It’s Happy Holidays Oh Deer Brutus Monroe. Just a little bit early for Christmas I know, but the new stamps have been released! Too exited to wait, I had to use them and share my creation with everyone.
This project is also part of a challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Here is the Sketch that we are to use as the inspiration.
The challenge was an easy one for me, I had fun pulling supplies to make the card. It took less than 30 minutes to make the card. I can see myself making more of these as Christmas cards to give out to friends and family. Now that I have a design laid out I know that it won’t take that long if I do an assembly line. Sometimes that is the key to making cards in mass quantities. You must first make one to see how you like the layout and then you can decide what to change for the rest of the cards.
This card began with me stamping the deer on white cardstock and then coloring with watercolor pencils. Watercolor pencils give such a wonderful effect to projects, I love how they look and how easy these are to use. Once I had the deer colored I then cut it out and set it aside. Next I pulled out a tree that I cut with my Sizzix out of chipboard. Acrylic paint was used to give my tree a beautiful green color and then to give it a nice green glow I used the Sage color from the Summer Chalk Shimmer Sprays and a green from Tattered Angels. This was set aside to dry.
Embossing folders are so much fun! The Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder was used to give my background texture. Sidewalk from Brutus Monroe’s Mini Chalk Ink Pad Collection: Winter was used to give more depth to the background. I also used my own recipe of glimmer mist: PearlEx, water and floor polish to give a pretty sparkle.
Last, I stamped the saying: Happy Holidays with Stazon ink and cut it into a pennant. All of the components were ready, so it was time to put the card together!
Here is a video of the whole process.
