Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk Journals

Making a junk journal that is more masculine than the others can be hard. What theme should be used? Would a man really like this type of journal? Pulling the Rt 66 Digital Journal Kit and some Pin Ups from Calico Collage got the idea for a Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk Journals set. My thoughts were, some men and a few ladies would collect Pin Up girl trading cards or images and they could be traveling on Route 66 to collect these images. Hope you like my idea.

Supplies used for the Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk Journals

When I first decided to make the Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk Journals I thought I was only going to make one. But with all the beautiful Pin Up Girl images I just had to make four junk journals.

These journals measure 5.5 x 8.0 inches and have 10 sheets folded in half to make 40 pages. The cover is three layers of paper. A brown grocery sack was used along with cardstock and the digital image. There are two pockets on the cover.

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists were applied to many of the pages. Some using the Lace Stencil I made and some just with the spray.

Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk JournalsSave those old Atlus Maps. I was lucky that my brother found an old city street map book. These make great foundation pages in a junk journal. The corner pocket is from the 7gypsies Gypsy Mixed Media Pad – American Vintage.

Franken pages also appear in these Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk Journals. Using the Tim Holtz pocket die, paper bag from Canvas Corp Brands, Pin Up girl ATC images, burlap, stamps and more to finish the page.

Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk JournalsWhen possible I like to print lines on the back of the Calico Collage images. The page on the right is out of an old dictionary and the journal spot is from a pad of scrapbook paper.

Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk JournalsFor the center of the Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk Journals, canvas, denim, stamped images and the Calico Collage domino images were used.

Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk JournalsPin Ups on Rt 66 Junk JournalsUsing ivory cardstock from Canvas Corp Brands and my Cricut I made a mini file folder that was stamped with Brutus Monroe Detail Ink – Raven and Terry’s Trains. This is adhered to the page with ScraPerfects Best Glue Ever and has a bakers twine closure.

Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk JournalsAnother altered paperclip. This one is made with an old book page and several stamped images.

Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk JournalsA Stamped bookmark is a great item to add to a junk journal. It can be taken out of the journal to use in other projects or to mark a place in a book.

Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk JournalsEach journal has the same elements, but the Pin Up Girl images might vary between the four Pin Ups on Rt 66 Junk Journals.
