Sweetheart Valentine Card

It’s a Sweetheart Valentine Card project on the blog today. The Fatabulous Circut Challenge Blog (aka FCCB) has a bi weekly challenge. This weeks challenge theme is #294 Valentines Day.

DL.Art is the sponsor for this weeks challenge. To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it’s not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

If it isn’t a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

For this project I decided to use the Sweetheart cut file from the Sweethearts Cricut Cartridge file M46C0D. This was cut on red card stock to fit on a standard A2 card. This was perfect for my Sweetheart Valentine Card project.

The couple featured on the card is from Calico Collage. Romantic Lovers is a digital download found on Calico Collage’s Etsy site. I’m a new member of her Design Team and loving the ability to work with her designs.

Also used in this card: Canvas Corp Red & White Diamond card stock. This paper is so yummy. I thought it was perfect as the background for this card, don’t you just love it too?

Of course I have to use inks on cards some where, and this card is no different. Brutus Monroe’s Detail Ink – Raven was used to give more definition to the edges of the layers. Used Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distressed ink to add a little more distressed look to the photo as well.

The corrugated paper under the Sweethearts word was something in my stash. Not sure where it came from, but it has great texture. Reminds me of the days when Oreos had that great black texture in the bottom of the package. Oreos, yum..

Recently I went on an Ebay shopping spree and purchased a few dies from China. These little dies were very inexpensive and I think I’m addicted to them now.

The little self adhesive pearls are from Paper Studios. What I like to do is pick these up when there is a sale at Hobby Lobby, then I know I’ll have a supply of these on hand.

A process video was made, have a look.

I’m enjoying being on the FCCB Design Team. Being on the team is helping me to use my Cricut more often and learn more. Check out the FCCB site and join in the challenge.

Creativation & Shopping Haul What Fun!

WOW Creativation & Shopping Haul What Fun! I had the best time at Creativation and then an extended vacation after the show.  There was so much to see and do during the event!

It was a blessing to be able to attend the show thanks to Canvas Corp Brands. Mind you I did work, I worked hart. The Canvas Corp Brands booth is an elaborate booth. Filled with so much inspiration that it can take more than three days just to see everything.

One of my art works was on display in the booth!  It was such an honor to see it on display where it could be seen by everyone.

Creativation & Shopping Haul What Fun!

The Window in the lower right corner is mine.

Being a part of the crew to put the booth together was a blast and hard work. Once the booth was done that is when the fun began.

There were times I got to walk around the show and see lots of things and even try a few of the products first hand.

The Rinea Paper Foil company also had a booth and I got the opportunity to work for a few hours with the owners. It was so great being able to get to know the owners. Sometimes you don’t understand the passion one has until you meet then in person. Diane and AK are awesome people.

One of my favorite things was being able to create a mini hat at the Charity Wings Booth. This organization does awesome work and the ladies that were working the booth were super sweet.

Here is a hat made with Tattered Angels Papers and Mists, the photo was taken by our Finland visitor Lena Holmstrom. She was such a joy to have in the booth and to hang out with.

Creativation & Shopping Haul What Fun!

Another of my favorite things was connecting with people that I only knew on the internet. Several of them I walked up to them and said, Hey I stalk you on the interweb. It was funny. Some loved it some gave me a “look”.

Carol Dube was the best. She just smiled when I took a selfie at her side. It didn’t bother her one bit. lol She even gave me a couple sheets of her gelli prints she was making. I felt blessed.

There was so much that I got to see and do that I made a video that is entirely too long, but I hope you enjoy seeing the goodies and can hear the joy in my voice.

If you ever get to go to Creativation (or whatever they call it next year) please go you won’t be disappointed.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

I made a Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit. This kit is so beautiful I just had to make another journal using these papers. Many of the pages can be used outside of Valentines and I know I’ll be printing more of these for other projects.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

For this journal I decided to make the journal out of 11 in. x 17 in. card stock folded into thirds with pockets. There are lots of tutorials out there on how to make a journal like this so I won’t take the time to explain. But if you are interested I’ll make a follow up post.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

Once I had the pages defined I started distressing the papers and adding each of the printed images or scrap papers to the pages.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

Every page has something added. Either it has a pocket or a tuck spot. All kinds of places to add notes or photos. Lots of little bits to write love notes or memories.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

My thought was this would be a great journal to write love notes to that one that you love and give it to them. What fun would they have going through each page looking at each item. They could enjoy seeing the beautiful papers and seeing what you add to the book.

Here is a list of some of the items used:

I really enjoyed making this Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit. There will be more journals offered in my shop so keep coming back to see what I have created.

Art with Heart – A greeting card

National Inspire your Heart with Art is Jan 31st and I decided to create a card. Art with Heart – A greeting card was the result.

Pulling the supplies and thinking about Valentines Day just around the corner made me choose the items I used.

Art with Heart - A greeting card

The background paper is the Black Patchwork on White from Canvas Crop Brands. This patterned paper is great for making mats for photos or in my case great for cards.

Digital download image that was used for this project is from Calico Collage – Vintage Valentines. I knew that the little cherub with the fan would be perfect inside the die cut lace heart (unknown brand).

Since I have recently become a member of the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog I’m using my Cricut more often. Today I used the Home Decor cartridge and cut the word Love M3D72F out of red card stock.

Some of the tools I like to use: Crop a Dial Corner rounder, Paper cutters and the awl to poke holes in the paper for brads.

Other items for this card came from my stash. Like the Tim Holtz Distress ink – Picked Raspberry. Brutus Monroe Detail Ink – Raven was also used.

Art with Heart - A greeting card

This year my challenge to myself is to use as much as I can of the stuff I have. Today I used some scraps of black paper and red brads. Every little bit that gets used makes a difference.

Do you make challenges for yourself when you are creating art? Consider doing so in the future, it will make you think creatively, and use up some of that growing stash you may have.

A video was made to show you all the steps on how this card was made. It was fun to think creatively and make Art with Heart. I hope it inspires you to create Art with Heart this National Inspire your Heart with Art January 31st.

Cricut Globe – Let it Snow

Today I’m sharing my Cricut Globe – Let it Snow project for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog Challenge #293 – Snow Sponsored by Pretty Cute Stamps. Challenge this week is to have a snow theme and use at least one Cricut cut in the project.

Cricut Globe - Let it Snow

What a great time to use a snow globe than this? The globe is from the Joys of the Season Cricut Cartridge. It was cut at 4.5 in. tall. The top most layer was removed as I wanted to stamp on the top layer and not have holes cut through the image.

Used Brutus Monroe snowflake stamps from the Oh Deer set. Stamped in Tim Holtz Distressed Ink Tumbled Glass and Brutus Monroe Ink Cornflower.

Brutus Monroe Stamp Set Oh Deer was used. This little fat deer makes me laugh every time I see him. Stamped with Brutus Monroe Detail Ink – Raven on a scrap of white card stock and then fussy cut. Water colored with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Cork, Tattered Leather and It’s Black. Also used White High Impact paint by Tattered Angels.

Cricut Globe - Let it Snow

VersaMark Stamp pad was mashed onto Deer image and snow globe then Ranger Clear Holographic embossing powder was applied and heat set. This gives the appearance of being inside a snow globe.

Let it Snow from Printworks Stamps was stamped in Brutus Monroe Embossing ink, embossed with black embossing powder.

Tim Holtz Distressed Ink Brushed Corduroy applied to base of the snow globe.

Cut white card stock at 4 in. x 5.25 emboss with Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder. Use Tim Holtz Disressed Ink Tumbled Glass and blending tool to add color around the edge. Mash VersaMark stamp pad to embossed image, cover with Ranger Clear Holographic embossing powder, heat set.

Blue card stock cut at 4.23 in. x 5.47 in. adhered as the first layer on a standard A2 greeting card. Layer Snowflake background. Assemble snow globe and adhere on top of embossed layer. Use pop dots to adhere Deer on top.

Video on how to make this card.

Super Fun greeting card! Love sharing this Cricut Globe – Let it Snow. Hope you enjoyed seeing how it was made. If you would like to purchase the finished card for $10.00 including shipping click here.
