Felt Flower Tutorial and Gemini Jr Giveaway

Today I have a Felt Flower Tutorial and Gemini Jr Giveaway to share with you. Back in January while attending Creativation 2018 I got to meet some wonderful people at the Crafters Companion booth. I got to test drive the Gemini and make a few projects and then later they gave me a Gemini Jr for my 5000 Subscriber giveaway on Youtube.

Felt Flower Tutorial

Here is the Felt Flower Tutorial video. Share this video using the tag #lindaisraelgiveaway, then to be entered to win, post on the video you have shared it on your social media.

Items used in the Felt Flower Tutorial.

The method of making these flowers is pretty easy for this Felt Flower Tutorial, I first used the Gemini to cut the felt. It cuts beautifully and is easy to pull apart the negative from the positive.

Using a pair of tweezers I then start to roll up the flower. Adding a drop of glue and then rolling more.

Felt Flower Tutorial

Continue rolling the flower adding glue until you get to the big round part. Make sure you are keeping the roll even so you will have a pretty flower. When you get to the end, apply hot glue to the roll and close the flap on the bottom.

Felt Flower TutorialFelt Flower Tutorial

The flower is done, or you can go further by spraying with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. I used Party Pink Tattered Angels lightly over the flower and then dried with my heat tool. The flower on the left has been sprayed the flower on the right is the original color.

Felt Flower Tutorial

This flower needed a flat back pearl so I used the Embellie Gellie to hold the pearl and the Surebonder glue gun to place the glue. The Embellie Gellie with its stick allows perfect placement of the pearl.

Isn’t this pink flower super cute? It was made using a dryer sheet and Party Pink Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. Then added a flat back pearl to the center. What a great way to upcycle those dryer sheets right?

Felt Flower Tutorial

Well, you have seen the Felt Flower Tutorial, I guess you are ready for the info on how to win the Gemini Jr from Crafters Companion, the Surebonder Ultra Full Size Glue Gun with glue and the Holster prizes. (One prize per winner, The announcement will be made via YouTube one week from this video, please be ready to contact Linda with your address).

Felt Flower Tutorial

Each time you share on different networks I’ll add your name to the drawing for the prizes. Simple as that. Again in one week, I’ll have a new video announcing the winner.

Look at all these goodies! The Gemini Jr from Crafters Companion comes with all the items necessary to get started. There are even four extra die sets that are included in this grand prize.

Felt Flower Tutorial

The hot glue gun by Surebonder is a great tool. This is a full size glue gun with dual temp. I like the auto shut off. No worries about did I leave the hot glue gun on?

Felt Flower Tutorial

These Holsters are really cool. A great way to have a holder for a tool and have it out of the way, hanging off your table or sink.

Felt Flower Tutorial

Then I have a few flowers I made that will also be a small prize. Lots of goodies. So again all you need to do is share my video on your preferred social media with the tag #lindaisraelgiveaway then go to the video and leave a comment saying you have shared on the following social media.

Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal

Hello friends. today I’m sharing a custom junk journal I made for one of my fans. Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal uses lots of purples. The digital images – Among the Stars from Calico Collage were used in this junk journal. But I altered these with a scan of a paper I created to give the pages a darker purple and to tone down the pinks. I love how it turned out!

Purple Among the Stars Junk JournalPurple Among the Stars Junk Journal

Here is a flip through video showing the Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal.

When I saw the purple fabric that was used for the cover I just knew I found the perfect piece. Since she said she loved purple, black and stars it was easy to pull items from my stash and get to work.

Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal

I even made three pages out of canvas from Canvas Corp Brands. These pages were sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Fully Purple using a stencil I made on my Cricut Explore Air. Then I added a fabric and lace pocket and more fabric and beaded trim to finish out the page. It is so pretty.

Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal

It was fun to do a little mixed media inside this Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal. Used some old street maps for Oklahoma City and covered those with purple paints. I love being able to alter the color of paper.

Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal

Using my Cricut Explore Air I made two different star stencils. One was what I call a waterfall of stars the other is an all over star pattern. Fully Purple Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist was the main one I used for this Purple Among the Stars Junk Journal.

Take a look at those supplies you have, it could be that spraying with something like Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists will take something blah to wow. In this journal, I was able to alter the color of paper, canvas, and even eyelash yarn.

7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal

Getting ready for Creativation 2018 in Pheonix AZ, are you? I was asked to make a few junk journals for the Canvas Corp Brands booth that includes 7gpysies and Tattered Angels. I came up with a 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal that I’m in love with and don’t want to let go of for the show. lol I do hope to get it back.

7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal

Supplies used in the 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal

When I got this paper collection in front of me I decided I really wanted to use as much as possible and not add other products from other companies if I could help it. I believe that I have achieved this goal.

Here is a flip through video of this 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal.

I began by cutting the papers 8 inches tall by 12 inches wide. Saving one of the papers for the cover and the others to become pages.

7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal

Next, I selected three pieces of burlap to make pages and used the 4-inch pieces that were cut off of the cardstock papers to make pockets on the burlap.

7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal

Sewing canvas, paper, fabric, and burlap was a lot of fun. I love the look it gives this journal. One of my friends said it looked tattered, old and junky. Well, that was my goal! lol

7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal

Trying new things in each project helps me grow as an artist. Today it was making a page out of burlap. What new thing have you tried lately in your creative play?

7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal 7gypsies Seamstress Junk Journal

Traveling to Creativation in Pheonix AZ will be a great week. I’m looking forward to seeing all the new products and connecting with other artists.

Mixed Media Crazy Pages Tutorial

Mixed Media Crazy Pages Tutorial Supply list

Mixed Media Crazy Pages Tutorial Video.

After collecting the items I attached the two sheets of watercolor paper together with washi tape on the back backside. This made a large sheet I could work on and then cut up later.

Mixed Media Crazy Pages Tutorial

Stamp the images with Brutus Monroe Detail ink – Raven. Then adhere torn bits of the Damask Tissue paper and dictionary page.

Using the stencil made on the Cricut Explore Air I used the Chalk sprays to add color to the page.

Next applied the Glam and High Impact paint with some yellow acrylic paint with an old room key card in a random fashion.

Using a couple of stencils and gesso I then added a layer over the whole sheet.

Apply a little watered down glimmer mist or use a spray bottle of water then spray with Electric Blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist here and there.

Use PVA to attach the torn napkin all over.

Once this is dry – I used a heat tool to speed up the process. Apply the three different pink acrylic paints to create flowers around the torn napkin pieces. Creating whole new flowers.

Mixed Media Crazy Pages Tutorial

Apply Cranberry Zing Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist with a paint brush over the flowers.

Seal the work with Krylon Matte Finish Spray – I took it outside as the fumes are not good to smell.

Then using a Pitt Pen made marks around the flowers to give more definition.

Mixed Media Crazy Pages Tutorial

Remove the washi tape from the back and cut the two pages apart. Then cut down to 5 x 5.5 inch pieces.

I really love how these Mixed Media Crazy Pages turned out! There will be more I will be making! Soon I’ll show other projects using the scans I made of the pages.

Mixed Media Crazy Pages Tutorial

Take time to play with your art supplies. There is no wrong way to enjoy making something beautiful. Try new things and don’t worry about how it turns out. It might look like a hot mess at first, but keep playing and before you know it you have a wonderful work of art.

ANNOUNCEMENT! The artwork has now been included in a digital Junk Journal kit by Calico Collage Called: Linda’s Wisdom. Love to see what you make with this digital kit use the tag #lindaswisdom on social media. Thank you everyone for helping me reach a dream of having something of mine out for mass consumption.

Junk Journal Pocket Tutorial

Welcome my friends, today I’m sharing a Junk Journal Pocket Tutorial. This pocket was in the Let it Snow Junk Journal and I made extras for the Simply Winter Junk Journal kits. I thought I would share How I made it so others could make their own Junk Journal Pocket.

Junk Journal Pocket Tutorial

Here is a video showing the Junk Journal Pocket Tutorial.

Supplies used for the Junk Journal Pocket Tutorial

Junk Journal Pocket Tutorial

The method used in this Junk Journal Pocket Tutorial is very simple. Take a page out of an old book. I’ve even used books from the Dollar Tree. Fold the book in half from top to bottom. Turn down one corner and adhere in place.

Using a Snowflake Stencil (I made the stencil myself using my Circut and a snowflake image and cut on Transparency film.) Spray with both colors of Tattered Angels Mists.

Once the page is dry (can use a heat tool if necessary) take to the sewing machine. Stitch around the outside edges to add a touch of zig-zag stitches.

Next using the Calico Collage Vintage Holiday charm image, a few punched shapes and some sheet music decorate the pocket. I even used some blue eyelash yarn for cool texture.

To put in the pocket I made a tag using Canvas Corp Brands Canvas an index card and more of the Tattered Angels Mists.

After watching the Junk Journal Pocket Tutorial I know you will make a lot of these fun and beautiful pockets.

Tutorial Explore Mini Junk Journal

Today is a Tutorial of an Explore Mini Junk Journal for Day 12 of the Christmas Junk Journal Gift ideas. Doing this series has been fun. I love seeing what Rachel Reid comes up each day.

Explore Mini Junk Journal

For this Tutorial of the Explore Mini Junk Journal, I wanted to keep it simple. Not a lot of fancy tools. As many of the things I did can be done without fancy tools. Scissors, glue, paper, sewing needle, and thread are the basics.

The Supplies and Tools I used today for the Explore Mini Junk Journal.

Explore Mini Junk Journal

Because some people have said they don’t have Glimmer Mists or even Distress Inks I didn’t use any, just opting to have it clean and simple. It also takes less time if you leave out those steps.

Explore Mini Junk Journal

Here is a video of the Tutorial on the Explore Mini Junk Journal.

Pick up a Junk Pack from 7Gypsies today and see what kind of fun junk journal you make. It’s fun to pick up random papers to use in a junk journal. And in this little junk pack are all kinds of cool textures and colors. Enough for making matching elements and few that will make them one of a kind.

Explore Mini Junk Journal

My hope is that you too will make an Explore Mini Junk Journal and enjoy the process.

Custom Gypsy Junk Journal

A month ago I was contacted by one of my followers and asked to make a Custom Gypsy Junk Journal. Using the list of items she liked and didn’t like, I created the journal. Used journal kits from Calico Collage – Gypsy Love and Nature’s Glory along with other items from my stash.

Custom Gypsy Junk Journal

What I enjoyed about this journal was dying the lace with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. Lately, I have found that it is better if I purchase white lace and change the color with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. That way I can make it match my project.

Custom Gypsy Junk Journal

This Custom Gypsy Junk Journal has lots of colors throughout. I love how the pages look with the addition of lace, stamping and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.

Linda Israel’s Studio Tour 2017

Here it is, Linda Israel’s Studio Tour 2017. I’ve been asked to share an update on my Studio, or craft space or as Henry says, Linda’s Crap room. lol I decided after taking the following photo that I needed to clean up a bit and that lead to having the room tidy enough to show off the room.

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

As you can see it was piled up pretty high on my desk. Sometimes I get busy and don’t take the time to put things away. I regret this, as I’ll start losing items. I can’t find that one thing I need because I didn’t put it away.

Now that the room is tidy I will share a video. Linda Israel’s Studio Tour 2017.

So do you think I have a large collection of Rubber Stamps and clear stamps? Heck, I even forgot to tell you about the ones on the shelf in binders above my cardstock! I have a lot of stamps! lol

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

The collection began about 25 years ago and my first stamps only fit inside a shoe box. Then I got more and the collection grew. It has been a blessing when friends give me stamps or I find ones I love on discount. 😉

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017 Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017 Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

When my old job was clearing out the mail room and they were going to throw out the old sorting bins I said, I would take them. Thankful that I drove a pickup truck back then as all I had to do was get the units loaded and taken home.

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

The drawers were some of those really cheap three drawer units from Dollar General. I found these were the perfect size for the spaces to hold stamps and other items.

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

Can you see those colorful boxes on the top shelf? Those are envelopes. Each box can hold 250! Need an envelope? I can hook you up! lol

The room is very full. It would be wonderful if I could take a week and pull everything out. Then reorganize things as I have things all over the room that should be grouped together.

Some of my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. I decided a week ago that I wanted to see the bottles and I ran out of room in my drawers! LOL If you didn’t know I love Glimmer Mits. lol

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017 Just a few of the Prima Flowers I own. There are more in a box above these. My goal this past year has been to use up the items like these. I’ve already gotten rid of 5 bottles of flowers this year.

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

To you, this may seem like a random photo but I wanted everyone the collection of Aleene’s Tacky Glue I have going on. How many bottles of glue do you see? lol And do you see my Brother Scan N Cut? Henry found it at a GoodWill for $60.00! This unit was brand new and never used! SCORE!

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

Here is a view showing a lot of my paper. It is stacked to the ceiling! But I’m doing my best to use it up in my projects. What is it that you have the most of in your creative space? It’s a toss-up between Stamps and Paper for me. 🙂Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

We all want to have everything when we see something cool. Think about your purchases, do you love it enough that you want to keep it for the next 20 years? If so then get it and love it from now on. It might save you the headache of emptying a full room!

There are so many things I didn’t share today. I think the video would be a couple hours long if I share it all. LOL  If you are ever in Oklahoma, hit me up, you can have a private tour. 😉

What did you like about seeing Linda Israel’s Studio Tour 2017? Was there something you saw that you wish you could use or try out?

Remember it has taken me a long time and the generosity of my friends and family for me to build this collection. You could start a collection like mine, but it will take time and effort. 🙂

Natures Glory Junk Journals

Today I’m sharing three Natures Glory Junk Journals I made using the Calico Collage Digital Journal Kit – Natures Glory. These were fun and easy to make. Of course, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists were used along with Stamping and Distressed Inks.

Natures Glory Junk Journals

What I love about the Calico Collage Digital Journal Kits is I get to pick and choose the images I want to use in my junk journals. For this set of Natures Glory Junk Journals, I decided to use the journal cards as a focal piece on the cover.

These Natures Glory Junk Journals measure 5.25 inches wide by 7.5 inches tall. Each journal has 10 sheets of paper folded in half for a total of 40 pages.

Here is a flip through video showing all three of the Natures Glory Junk Journals I made.

Using papers from my stash and things that were given to me brings me joy. How about you? Do you try to use up items from your stash?

Natures Glory Junk Journals Natures Glory Junk Journals Natures Glory Junk Journals Natures Glory Junk Journals Natures Glory Junk Journals

Each cover has a page out of a dictionary, Canvas Corp Brands Canvas, Prima flower and more. My best friend gave me a couple rolls of the red mesh. I decided to make a little flair for the flowers.

My youngest brother loves to go to auctions. Since he loves going, I gave him the task to look for papers, photos, calendars and more. He didn’t disappoint when he brought a box full of goodies to me. There was an Oklahoma City Street Atlas and datebooks in the box that got used in these journals.

Natures Glory Junk Journals Natures Glory Junk Journals Natures Glory Junk Journals Natures Glory Junk Journals Natures Glory Junk Journals

Because I often use hardback books for journal covers I end up with a lot of pages from the books. For this batch of Natures Glory Junk Journals, I decided to try my hand at painting pages for envelopes.

Natures Glory Junk Journals

Using craft acrylic paint in, yellow, orange and purple I painted the paper. This is where an old credit card or gift cards are handy. Use the card to spread the paint in a thin layer. Then these will dry quickly. I even used a stencil for a pretty design.

The Rose stamp in the corners of several of the pages is from Brutus Monroe – Botanical Banners. Stamped the Rose image with Picked Raspberry Distress Inks.

Natures Glory Junk Journals

Lots of yummy goodies in this set of Natures Glory Junk Journals.

Halloween Witches Junk Journals

It’s Fall and time for Halloween and today I’m sharing four Halloween Witches Junk Journals I made using Calico Collage digital images, Canvas Corp Brands Halloween cardstock, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and more.

Halloween Witches Junk Journals

Last week I visited Canvas Corp Brands Home office and was able to pick up a few new things. I also got a few RAK’s (Random Act of Kindness) packages in the mail filled with Halloween items. This prompted me to take a look at my stash and see that I had some Calico Collage digital images ready to use.

The result was four Halloween Witches Junk Journals. Each journal has 8 sheets of paper folded in half for a total of 32 pages to add memories. The journals are almost 5 inches by 7 inches in size. Lots of Stamping and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists were used in each journal.

Here is a flip through video for the four Halloween Witches Junk Journals.

Papers and digital kits used to make the Halloween Witches Junk Journals.

Being able to use the papers and images along with the items that were sent to me was wonderful. Using my sewing machine to add a few stitches here and there brings me joy. This was also a great time to bust out my Halloween Stamps, some I’ve had for years.

Halloween Witches Junk Journals Halloween Witches Junk Journals Halloween Witches Junk Journals

Although each journal has the same basic papers and I used some of the same techniques each is unique. Stamping, Spraying Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, adding stickers and more help to make each one unique.

How do you celebrate Halloween? Usually, we are away but this year I think we will be home to hand out candy to the local kids.
