Tutorial for a No Sew Junk Journal

Hello friends, today is day 10 of the 12 days of Junk Journal Gift Ideas and I’m sharing a Tutorial for a No Sew Junk Journal. This is a super easy mini junk journal that can be made as a small stocking stuffer or to add to a Christmas Card.

Video Tutorial for a No Sew Junk Journal.

The method for making this one sheet mini junk journal is very easy. Take the 12 x 12 inch sheet of paper and score at the 3, 6, 9 inch marks, rotate 90 degrees and score at the 3, 6, 9 inch marks. Then slightly crease the page so you can see the sore marks.

Tutorial for a No Sew Junk Journal

Make a cut down the center score mark and stop 3 inches from the edge. Rotate paper 180 degrees and cut the outside two score marks and stop 3 inches from the edge. You will have a zig-zag looking sheet of paper.

Next, fold the paper in an accordion fashion until the pages have been formed. Using the Best Glue ever adhere the pages together. Keeping in mind those pages you want to have pockets, leave the top open to slide a journal card inside.

Tutorial for a No Sew Junk Journal

Once the pages have adhered create the cover using scraps of paper cut to 2.75 inches square. Apply distress inks to the book and cover. Wrap one time around the journal with yarn and tie a bow. This will be the closure. Apply the Best Glue Ever to the cover pieces and adhere to cover over the yarn.

Cut a 1 inch by 3 inch piece of paper to cover the spine of the journal. Adhere using the Best Glue Ever. Once all of the gluing is complete use the Perfect Crafting Pouch to get rid of any sticky areas. Wipe with the Perfect Cleaning Cloth to remove any excess powder.

Decorate the one sheet mini junk journal to your liking. For mine, I used scraps of book pages, images from Calico Collage Drag and scraps of cardstocks.

The one-sheet mini junk journal has 18 pages including the covers for you to decorate and depending on how you created the pages could have 7 pockets.

Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal

Hello everyone. Today I’m sharing the following Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal. One of my followers requested that I make a custom junk journal for her. The requirements she had were, dragonflies, hedgehogs, nature, eagles, earth tones – brick and burgundy reds, olive and moss green, and golden yellows.

So using the list of things she liked and knowing the list of things she didn’t want I proceeded to pull items and share with her what I was thinking. She came back with feedback on the items she loved and wanted more of and we changed directions once. Once I had all the elements I set to work on the journal.

Here is a flip through video of the Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal.

Loir Louise is her name and she said she loved to color. That gave me the idea to make a lot of little journal cards that she could color and then write on the backside.

Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal

I used the Dragonfly Delight journal kit from Calico Collage. This kit has a lot of teal and pink. Using distress inks and a blending tool I was able to alter the colors and add more golds, reds and darker greens. It really changed the look of the pages.

Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal

Also used a few pages from the Gypsy Love journal kit from Calico Collage. The deeper greens and reds and gold I thought went perfectly with the other pages. I also liked that these pages were a different size so it gave some added interest to the journal.

Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal

Since she liked autumn colors and dragonflies I used two of my custom stencils. Wanting to have stencils that fit my pages and had themes I liked I used my Cricut. Cutting each page to be the correct size and have images I liked. No one else will have these stencils thus making my junk journals unique. Lots of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists were used on the pages.

Other elements used in the Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal was the floral fabric. To add interest here and there I cut one-inch strips of the fabric and then sewed on the pages, journal cards, and other elements.

Making this Aspire Dream Custom Junk Journal was a lot of fun for me. Being able to pull my stamps down and give them a good workout made me smile.

Christmas Junk Journal with Transfer Foil

Have you played with Transfer Foils yet? Today I’ll show you a Christmas Junk Journal with Transfer Foil applied to the cover. Using ScraPerfect’s Transfer Foil, Best Glue Ever and Best Cleaner Ever I’ll show you how easy it is to apply Transfer Foils to your projects.

Christmas Junk Journal with Transfer Foil

Supplies used on the Christmas Junk Journal with Transfer Foil
Stampabilities Swirl Stamp
Best Glue Ever.
Transfer Foils, I used solid red.
Best Cleaner Ever.
Foam Brush
Old Rag
Book Binders Needle
Waxed Linen Thread
Fiskars Scissors
Ribbon
Calico Collage Golden Christmas digital journal kit.

Video Tutorial showing the Christmas Junk Journal with Transfer Foil applied. This video also shows how to bind a Junk Journal using a pamphlet stitch and then a flip through of the journal.

To create this Christmas Junk Journal with Transfer Foil, I began with applying the Best Glue Ever to a foam brush and then on the rubber stamp. Press the stamp to the desired area and let air dry for a minute or two.

While the glue is drying on the project clean the stamp with the Best Glue Ever. Only a small amount is needed and spread with your finger to cover the surface. Wipe clean with a towel.

Christmas Junk Journal with Transfer Foil

The stamped image should be tacky to the touch. Apply the Transfer Foil over the image and rub with fingers. It only takes a moment and the foil will stick to the image. Lift the transfer foil sheet and admire the beautiful foil.

Once cover of the Christmas Junk Journal with Transfer Foil was complete I then bound the journal using a pamphlet stitch.

Dragonfly Junk Journal

Since March I’ve been asking Norella from Calico Collage for a Dragonfly Junk Journal kit. Well, she made one and I finally got time to make it into a journal and made three journal kits as well.

Dragonfly Junk JournalDragonfly Junk Journal

This Dragonfly Junk Journal measures 6 x 8.5 inches with a 1.5 inch spine. There are 3 signatures with a total of 19 sheets of paper to make a total of 76 pages. The cover is fabric over chipboard and a little glitter tule sewed on top. Love the dragonfly broach I attached to the cover. It can be removed and worn. 🙂

Dragonfly Junk Journal

I made the dragonfly journal charms, here is the blog post with all the details on how to make a dragonfly journal charm. This is one of my favorite styles of journal charms to make, I can detach from the journal and where it on a necklace or attach to other items.

Dragonfly Junk Journal

Here is a flip through video of the Dragonfly Junk Journal and the kits I made.

Using Dragonfly Delight by Calico Collage for the images was such a joy. When Norella told me the kit was ready I was over the moon! The images she created and used are so wonderful. Love the colors too! Also used the Domino and Bottle Cap Dragonfly Delight images.

While out shopping I found the beautiful fabric with the flowers and butterflies and knew that it was a perfect match for this Dragonfly Junk Journal.

Dragonfly Junk Journal

For the journal cards inside this Dragonfly Junk Journal, I wanted different styles and sizes. It was fun to make different journal cards to have variety inside this journal.

Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal

Sewing lace on the edges of the pages really does add a little something special.  I love using the zig-zag stitch over the lace.

Dragonfly Junk Journal

Since I didn’t have a dragonfly stencil I made two using my Cricut and transparency film. It was easy to make, found silhouette image of a dragonfly, duplicated and turned the images to make a random pattern and told the Cricut Explore Air to cut. Now I have a stencil I can use over and over!

Because the Simply Winter journal Kits were such a great hit I decided to make three Dragonfly Junk Journal kits. These kits have over 90 pieces and include the items necessary for the cover and inside pages.

Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal

For the most part, the journals have the same elements, these might have different images but the same amount of pages and journal cards inside these Dragonfly Junk Journal Kits.

Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk Journal Dragonfly Junk JournalDragonfly Junk Journal

Used a lot of Tulip Glitter paint on this junk journal. The glimmer it adds to the images is so pretty. Of course, I have to use lots of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists inside this Dragonfly Junk Journal and the kits too.

Making the Dragonfly Junk Journal and kits allowed me to use lots of my dragonfly stamps. I love seeing the images on the pages.

Custom Gypsy Junk Journal

A month ago I was contacted by one of my followers and asked to make a Custom Gypsy Junk Journal. Using the list of items she liked and didn’t like, I created the journal. Used journal kits from Calico Collage – Gypsy Love and Nature’s Glory along with other items from my stash.

Custom Gypsy Junk Journal

What I enjoyed about this journal was dying the lace with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. Lately, I have found that it is better if I purchase white lace and change the color with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. That way I can make it match my project.

Custom Gypsy Junk Journal

This Custom Gypsy Junk Journal has lots of colors throughout. I love how the pages look with the addition of lace, stamping and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.

How to make Three Junk Journal Embellishments

Just finished up a Let it Snow Junk Journal and thought I would share a tutorial. How to make Three Junk Journal Embellishments. Using Calico Collage Victorian Holiday 1 inch charms and other elements from my stash.

Three Junk Journal Embellishments

Collecting items from my stash, which includes a few tools, it was time to start creating. What I love most about Junk Journals is being able to use all the different supplies and tools I’ve collected over the years. Busting out tools that might have a little dust on them, makes me happy.

Stamping and also die cutting the papers helps me make unique junk journal embellishments. Since these are tools I own it is easy to duplicate a look and I ended up making four of each of these three junk journal embellishments for the Let It Snow Junk Journal and Journal kits.

Three Junk Journal Embellishments

Using the one-inch square punch I proceeded to select images from the Victorian Holidays charm set. I love how perfect these images look backed with other shapes of paper.

Linda Israel’s Studio Tour 2017

Here it is, Linda Israel’s Studio Tour 2017. I’ve been asked to share an update on my Studio, or craft space or as Henry says, Linda’s Crap room. lol I decided after taking the following photo that I needed to clean up a bit and that lead to having the room tidy enough to show off the room.

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

As you can see it was piled up pretty high on my desk. Sometimes I get busy and don’t take the time to put things away. I regret this, as I’ll start losing items. I can’t find that one thing I need because I didn’t put it away.

Now that the room is tidy I will share a video. Linda Israel’s Studio Tour 2017.

So do you think I have a large collection of Rubber Stamps and clear stamps? Heck, I even forgot to tell you about the ones on the shelf in binders above my cardstock! I have a lot of stamps! lol

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

The collection began about 25 years ago and my first stamps only fit inside a shoe box. Then I got more and the collection grew. It has been a blessing when friends give me stamps or I find ones I love on discount. 😉

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017 Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017 Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

When my old job was clearing out the mail room and they were going to throw out the old sorting bins I said, I would take them. Thankful that I drove a pickup truck back then as all I had to do was get the units loaded and taken home.

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

The drawers were some of those really cheap three drawer units from Dollar General. I found these were the perfect size for the spaces to hold stamps and other items.

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

Can you see those colorful boxes on the top shelf? Those are envelopes. Each box can hold 250! Need an envelope? I can hook you up! lol

The room is very full. It would be wonderful if I could take a week and pull everything out. Then reorganize things as I have things all over the room that should be grouped together.

Some of my Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. I decided a week ago that I wanted to see the bottles and I ran out of room in my drawers! LOL If you didn’t know I love Glimmer Mits. lol

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017 Just a few of the Prima Flowers I own. There are more in a box above these. My goal this past year has been to use up the items like these. I’ve already gotten rid of 5 bottles of flowers this year.

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

To you, this may seem like a random photo but I wanted everyone the collection of Aleene’s Tacky Glue I have going on. How many bottles of glue do you see? lol And do you see my Brother Scan N Cut? Henry found it at a GoodWill for $60.00! This unit was brand new and never used! SCORE!

Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

Here is a view showing a lot of my paper. It is stacked to the ceiling! But I’m doing my best to use it up in my projects. What is it that you have the most of in your creative space? It’s a toss-up between Stamps and Paper for me. 🙂Linda Israel's Studio Tour 2017

We all want to have everything when we see something cool. Think about your purchases, do you love it enough that you want to keep it for the next 20 years? If so then get it and love it from now on. It might save you the headache of emptying a full room!

There are so many things I didn’t share today. I think the video would be a couple hours long if I share it all. LOL  If you are ever in Oklahoma, hit me up, you can have a private tour. 😉

What did you like about seeing Linda Israel’s Studio Tour 2017? Was there something you saw that you wish you could use or try out?

Remember it has taken me a long time and the generosity of my friends and family for me to build this collection. You could start a collection like mine, but it will take time and effort. 🙂
