Unicorn Magic Junk Journal

I’m so in love with this Unicorn Magic Junk Journal. Hopefully you love it too. I used the Calico Collage Digital journal kit Unicorn Magic to make this journal along with stamps, scrapbook papers and the mop up pages when I use Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.

There is so much beautiful color throughout the journal. If you are a pink and purple fan, then this is a perfect color combo for you. Because doesn’t everyone love Unicorns?! Ever since I was a young girl I have loved Unicorns.

When Norella the owner and creator of Calico Collage said she was making a Unicorn Kit I was super excited! I think I responding in all caps that I loved the designs.. Working with these images has given me such joy!

The journal measures 5.5 in x 7.5 in. with a 1.5 in. spine. It has three signatures of 10 sheets of paper which make 120 pages to journal or add items. There are 9 different altered paper clips throughout. I made eight pockets out of pages from old books and decorated these pockets with various colors of washi tape. Pink lace seam binding ties the journal closed.

When I spray items with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists I line a box with a sheet of paper. This sheet of paper is an old letterhead that belonged to my husband. The company logo changed and they told him to throw out the paper and they sent new paper to him. Well, I knew that was a waste of paper so I kept it and I used it as a mop up sheet.

The results of using this old letterhead to soak up the glimmer mists make a beautiful paper that is perfect for pages in a junk journal. I trimmed off the letterhead log as best I could. When some of the images remain I find clever ways to cover it up. In the Unicorn Magic Junk Journal, I created tuck spots. Some fo these tuck spots are long strips of paper. Some tuck spots are just enough to cover the corner.

On many of the pages, I used stamps to add more interest. I love looking at different images and colors in a journal. Adding stamps throughout helps to not leave any blank pages.

How to make Mixed Media ATCs with Texture Paste and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists

Being on the CCB Design team we are doing an experiment. For this I decided: How to make Mixed Media ATCs with Texture Paste and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists would be a perfect opportunity.

The idea, Feb 17th is Random Act of Kindness Day. On this day the Canvas Corp Brands (CCB) Crew Members will create works of art and leave these for others to find.

Each piece of art will have the #CCBRAK written on the art and we will take photos and post to social media. The hope is those that find the works will go on social media and post that the found the items.

So I decided that I would make Mixed Media ATCs with Texture Paste and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. Using CCB products.

Join the Canvas Corp Brands Collective to see all of the items that the Creative Members are making.

How to make Mixed Media ATCs with Texture Paste and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists

The method I took was to start with a large sheet of paper and apply the tissue with Gel Medium. Applied the Texture paste through a couple of stencils. Dried with a heat tool.

Applied Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists – Red Chillies, Cork, Dijon, Tattered Leather, Iridescent Gold. to paper and to butterflies Dried with a heat tool.

Trim 12 in. sheet to 2.5 in. x 3.5 in. cards. Adhere butterflies with Aleene’s white glue. Add black paint around butterflies, use fingers to blend. Paint a small amount of gold acrylic paint to the butterflies.

Tie bows with Jute twine, glue with hot glue in the center of the butterflies. Select words for the butterflies spray with Dijon glimmer mists. Edge with Brutus Monroe Detail Ink – Raven.

Adhere the words on top of the Jute bows. Add backs to cards and edge with Brutus Monroe Detail Ink – Raven.

A Card using the Butterfly Digital File from Brutus Monroe

Today I’m sharing A Card using the Butterfly Digital File from Brutus Monroe. I’ve had the honor of becoming a member of the Inspiration Team.

This first assignment was a tough one as I didn’t have any physical product. I had to think creatively and use a digital file. These digital cut files are made to pair with stamp sets that are offered at Brutus Monroe.  It was fun being creative, pulling supplies from my stash and using the butterfly digital file to create this card.

Check out the post and let me know what you thought for my first post with Brutus Monroe.
