All Hallows Eve a Halloween Junk Journal

Today I’m sharing a new Junk Journal. It is an All Hallows Eve a Halloween Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Digital images, some images from my friend Janice, Stamps, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and more.

Halloween Junk Journal

Since we are having a Halloween contest in the Friendly Junk Journal People Facebook group I thought I should make a Halloween Junk Journal. Norella with Calico Collage provided a great freebie for the contest and has also agreed to give the winner a copy of the All Hallows Eve Digital junk journal kit.

Halloween Junk Journal

So I thought I should make a Halloween Junk Journal with those images so that everyone can see how cool these images are to use. Using these images makes a junk journal come together so easily.

Halloween Junk Journal Halloween Junk Journal

For this Halloween Junk Journal, I started collecting things I already had in my stash. some of those items were stickers. When out shopping I buy stickers and then I get home and forget to use them. My plan this year has been to use up the items I have and when I found the stickers I decided I will use as many as I like.

Halloween Junk Journal Halloween Junk Journal

This journal also helped me use my Cricut. I did a search of all the Halloween images that I own and picked a few to cut. I didn’t use all of these images, but I had fun with the stack of things I collected. What didn’t get used in the Halloween Junk Journal will go in some RAK packages in the next few weeks. That way I get rid of this stash!

Halloween Junk Journal Halloween Junk Journal Halloween Junk Journal

My brother gave me a box of papers and photos he picked up at an auction a few weeks ago. It is time for me to use some of those items. Digging around in the box I found some 5 x 7 black and white photos. These became some items to add into pockets.

Halloween Junk Journal

In this video, I show how to make the cover for the Halloween Junk Journal and how to sew the pages inside. At the end of the video is a flip through of the junk journal.

Making this Halloween Junk Journal was fun. It was cool to try a few new things, like stencils and the Cricut images I cut. Many people love Halloween and consider it their favorite holiday. What is your favorite holiday?

Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme

I’ve decided to share how I Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme today. My latest project is a Halloween Junk Journal and I thought it might be nice to see how to alter envelopes for this Halloween Theme.

Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme

Here is a Video on How to Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme.

It has been fun collecting envelopes. My family helps by saving the envelopes that their mail comes in so that I can alter these. What I enjoy is being able to take something that is destined for the trash and making it into something new.

Even though the envelopes I made are going inside a junk journal these can be altered to set back out in the mail. Years ago the stamp club I was a member of would decorate envelopes for our newsletters. Every month we were to bring a couple of envelopes so that the newsletter editor could mail out the newsletter in a decorated envelope. Getting those decorated envelopes was so much fun. Little works of art on the outside to hold information on the inside.

Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme

To Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme you will want a few things. Envelopes, Stamps, scraps of paper, washi tape, sewing machine (optional), cheese cloth, Tattered Anges Glimmer Mists, Halloween images (I used some from Calico Collage РAll Hallows Eve digital journal kit, some distressed ink and I also used Brutus Monroe Detail ink РRaven.

Once all the supplies are gathered cut the envelope open. For my project I wanted the envelopes to be no longer than 7.25 inches. Some people will cut each end to make a centered envelope. I just cut off one side that had the return address. Then I cut the other side so that the envelope can open all the way up.

Cut a piece of scrap paper, in my case I used a page out of a book I’ve torn apart to the same size as the envelope. This scrap paper will become the new flap on the envelope. Apply distress ink to the flap and the envelope. Use washi tape to attach this to make a flap.

Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme

Now choose some of those stamps and images and apply these to the envelope. You can decide if you want to seal the envelopes sides with sewing, washi tape or glue. I like sewing these. Sometimes I leave it so that it can be opened all the way and journal inside.

Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme

There is no wrong way to create items for a junk journal. I hope that you enjoyed seeing how I Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme.

Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page

Hello everyone today I’m here to share¬†Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page over on the Brutus Monroe Blog. Using the Brutus Monroe Stamp club set for September – I love you more than tacos, I create a fun Junk Journal page with pockets and little note pads.

Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page

Here is a video for Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page.

I’m always looking for new ideas and It took me a few days to think about how I would use this little stamp set. Sometimes it takes a few days for inspiration to strike. I had been thinking about this on and off all day and I couldn’t figure out what would be cute and clever. So I went to bed and as I laid there my mind kept working.

Finally, the idea Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page came to me and I got out of bed so I could sketch out the idea and get some sleep. lol

The next morning I started looking through my papers and found this cool zig zag that reminded me of the bright colors you see in Mexican restaurants. I knew that would be a perfect background for my page.

Digging around in my scraps of paper and fabric I found the paper to cut a black and red heart. Then I found an old package from some jewelry findings and thought that would be perfect for a journal card.

Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page

It’s amazing that once you let your mind go you can come up with something creative.

The foundation paper in this journal page is one of the old letterheads from my husband’s office. I love putting these in my spray box and let the over spray cover them. This page I had a stencil in the box and decided to add color with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.

Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page

My brother gave me a box of goodies he found at an auction. Some of these items were in the trash and some he purchased for $1 for a large box. I found the 90’s girl in the box and thought it was funny to add I love you more than Tacos in a speech bubble.

Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page

Creating a junk journal is about having fun. That is why I thought I would share Creating Taco Themed Junk Journal Page as it is funny and it made me laugh.

Junk Journal Swap Pages

Needing some pages for a swap, it was time to make Junk Journal Swap Pages. These had to be fun! It is so fun to customize a project and using stamps is a great way to do that!

Junk Journal Swap Pages

I’m over on the Brutus Monroe Blog sharing how to Decorate Journal Pages.Using Brutus Monroe Stamp set Dreamcatching, Chameleon Pens, Sewing, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and more.

Make sure you check out the blog to see all of the supplies used. Here is a video showing how to make the Junk Journal Swap Pages.

Making these Junk Journal Swap Pages is a great way to use up all those papers that you have been collecting. But maybe you don’t like them 100%. Since these were Junk Journal Swap Pages it these don’t have to match and these don’t have to be perfect either.

It was also great to use up lots of scraps of fabric that I’ve had for years. Years ago I made fabric angles and had a ton of fabric strips. After playing around with the scraps I found that these were perfect for the Junk Journal Swap Pages I was creating.

All six of us that participated use the same Calico Collage Digital Kit РTravelin Through in our journals. So when you visit each YouTube video you will get a different version of the same kit in a Travelers Notebook size.

The idea was that everyone could then see a big variety of how this kit could be made into a Junk Journal.

This Journal Measures 8.25 inches tall by 4.25 inches wide. It has 12 sheets of paper for a total of 48 pages.

Travelin Through Travelers Notebook Junk Journal

Making a Junk Journal can be as simple or as complicated as you decide. There isn’t a right or wrong way to make a junk journal. It is all about what you like and what you want to use. Just select some papers and fold in half, bind together and you have a journal. It can be very simple with out all the embellishments. ¬†Some people prefer a blank journal as they want to add the stamping and embellishments. Others want the journal full of all kinds of cool things.

Travelin Through Travelers Notebook Junk Journal

The Tag on the right was a scrap of paper that I stamped then sewed scraps of lace and fabric on top. The scraps of fabric came from my sewing group and these scraps were going to be trash! I have given these a new life.

Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal

Continuing¬†with my #junkjournaljuly I’ve created a¬†Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal for July 6th. My idea was to share how I decorate a Travelers Notebook. Adding the ephemera and tuck spots as well as stamping.

Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal

This Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal measures 8.25 inches tall by 4.25 inches wide when closed. It has 15 sheets of paper folded in half for a total of 60 pages.

A few of the Items used inside this Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal
7Gypsies Architextures РTrinkets РSeashore Decor
Creative Stamping Magazine Issue 43 Stamp set
Cheese Cloth
Old Calendar images
Various papers – Map, textured, coloring book pages, graph paper, cardstock, mop up paper, notebook paper and scrapbook paper. There isn’t a limit to the type of paper you use.
Sewing Machine
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Blue Bubbles, Denim Blue
Waxed Cotton Cord from Canvas Corp Home Basics
Brutus Monroe Detail Ink and Cornflower Surface Ink
MISTI
Note cards
Navy & Ivory Chevron is from Canvas Corp Brands

Here is a video showing How to make the Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal.

Isn’t the 7Gypsies Architextures – Trinkets – Seashore Decor a perfect touch for the cover? I added a some Brutus Monroe Surface ink – Cornflower on top of the Welcome Mermaid. It deepened the color. I just love the texture.

For this Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal, I decided to pull some blue scrapbook papers from my stash. These pages reminded me of the water and I knew that the print was light enough of several of the pages to be written upon.

Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal

As always I like using up scraps that I have on hand. I made tags out of Navy & Ivory Chevron is from Canvas Corp Brands paper. I sewed a scrap of dictionary paper on top that had been sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and stamped with Let your dreams set sail. After punching a hole in the top of the tag I added¬†Waxed Cotton Cord from Canvas Corp Home Basics. Doesn’t it feel like something Nautical?

Nautical Travelers Notebook Junk Journal

My friends are such a big blessing to me. One year a friend got a beautiful daily travel calendar. There are so many beautiful images in this calendar and he was throwing away the pages when the days were done. I asked if I could have those and I’m so glad I saved these from 2006! Tell your friends to save these items for you to use.

I’m so glad that I purchased the¬†Creative Stamping Magazine Issue 43 Stamp set
from Barns and Noble. I’m loving the nautical themed stamps that came with the magazine. I used the heart knot rope on the tops of several pages. My¬†MISTI sure comes in handy to get precise stamping every time.

Natures Glory Prayer Journal

Received a request to make a Natures Glory Prayer Journal. She sent a message and asked that I include a few things and use the Natures Glory digital download from Calico Collage.

Here is what I created based on her specifications.

Natures Glory Prayer Journal

She asked that it be about 15 sheets of paper folded in half to make one signature. I used 16 and that will make a book of 64 pages. The size of the journal is about 5.5 in. x 7.5 in.

The cover is cardstock with the Calico Image sewn on the cover. Inside the cover, I sewed pockets from pages out of old books.

Video flip through of the Natures Glory Prayer Journal.

For the tie on this book is lace seam binding that was white with gold flowers in the center. I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists to change the color to gold. And then these ties were sewed on the cover and I glued small punched butterflies on top of the stitches.

All of the pages in this Natures Glory Prayer Journal have been sprayed with different colors of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. I just love how it adds color to the pages and then these have a vintage feel without the yellowed pages.

I’ve recently purchased 6 stamp sets of Christian inspirational sayings or words. These are the stamps that I used throughout the journal. Using Brutus Monroe Detail Ink ‚Äď Raven to stamp the images makes sure that these won’t fade.

The handmade journal cards are all scraps of paper from other projects that I stamped and used Tim Holtz Distressed inks to add color. I love using up these bits of paper from my stash. I’m slowly making a dent in those pockets of papers.

Other journal cards were from Calico Collage ‚Äď Bible Verses domino size images. I cropped the images and then used my software to make these larger. I love adding these into the journals I make.

She had commented that she loved one of the little girl images in this journal. I decided to crop the image from the journal page and make this into journal cards.

Another request was for me to use glitter washi tape in this journal.

I enjoyed making this Natures Glory Prayer Journal for her. I hope she will enjoy using it every day.

Handmade Pink Grace Prayer Junk Journal

Handmade Pink Grace Prayer Junk Journal, I made using the Calico Collage digital images РPink Grace. Also used, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Scrapbook papers,

Pink Grace Prayer Junk Journal

Video Flip through of the Pink Grace Prayer Junk Journal.

This handmade journal has 3 signatures of 10 pages for a grand total of 120 pages. It Measures 5.25 x 7.5 x 2 inches.

There are 9 embellished paper clips in this Pink Grace Prayer Junk Journal.

For this journal, I tried to keep a theme throughout even the folded pockets that are inside. There are about 12 different folded paper pockets or tuck spots added to this journal.

So that there was plenty of room to write notes there are 4 mini journals tucked in pockets throughout this journal.

Used several different Spiritual stamps throughout.  These were stamped in either Tim Holtz Distressed ink or if black it was Brutus Monroe Detail Ink.

The smaller color printed images are also from Calico Collage – Bible Verses domino size images. I cropped three images that I felt matched the color in the Pink Grace Prayer Junk Journal. These were printed as a photo sheet of nine images which made these larger than the domino images.

Other journal spots were from Calico Collage and are free to use. These were the Vintage Seed Packets, and I altered the colors to match the Pink Grace Prayer Junk Journal.

I was glad to be using up more of my scraps of paper from my stash. The scraps were used in the die cut images and tuck spots in this journal.

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist were sprayed on every page. I love how it gives a beautiful shimmer to the pages, don’t you?

The cover of this journal is a scrap of canvas from Canvas Corp Brands. I sprayed the canvas with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists to change the color to match the journal. I did the same with the strips used as ties for the journal.

This Pink Grace Prayer Junk Journal would be a great gift to give to someone you love. You could write notes in this journal and then give it as a gift. Several of my friends have been making journals like this to give to their daughters.
