Paint Envelopes for Junk Journals

Do you have some papers that you want to alter? Then today’s post How to Paint Envelopes for Junk Journals is perfect for you. Using pages from an old book, acrylic craft paint and some glitter glue I alter paper to make fun envelopes. It’s a great mixed media project.

When you gut out the pages of a book you end up with a lot of pages that need a new purpose. While some pages are beautiful the way they are others need a little help.

This is where acrylic paint can be a great help. Using an old gift card or room key card and Acrylic Paint you can alter the paper.

Here is a video on How to Paint Envelopes for Junk Journals.

Collect a stack of papers to paint. Protect your work surface as this can get messy. I use old poster board or newspaper to help with any excess paint.

Select the color you want and a page. Pour some paint on the paper and use the card to spread it around. The more pressure you use the lighter the paint layer will be on the paper.

Once you have the paper coated with paint allow it to dry. Or you can use a heat tool to speed up the process.

My pages were already die cut with the Tim Holtz Envelope Die. If you don’t have the die, you can make your own template. Copy an envelope you already have or download one from the internet. With the new punch boards out you can use one of those too.

Once the envelope has been formed I then used a punch to create a closure on the back of the envelope.

There are a lot of fun to make and will be inside the Christmas Junk Journal I’m making. Keep following to see more projects.

Plethora of Mother’s Day Cards Made

So yesterday was a busy day. I have a Plethora of Mother’s Day Cards Made. Since Mother’s Day is just around the corner, Sunday, May 14, I thought I should get busy and make a few cards.

For these cards I decided to use some papers I had in my stash. You know the ones, those that got purchased for some reason or another. Or in my case there was a huge stack of papers given to me.

Thumbing through the papers I found a couple of scrapbook papers that I thought would be beautiful backgrounds.

Once the background papers were selected I think started looking through the other papers and bits. I have 12 in. x 12 in. scrapbook folders that hold scraps of paper. Having these folders helped in the making of all of these cards.

One of my friends came over to craft with me and she let me borrow a really pretty die set. I’m so glad that she came over. I’ve been using these dies like crazy. lol

Here are the Plethora of Mother’s Day Cards Made in this card making session.

The first card features Brutus Monroe – Bunny Kisses set. This was stamped with Brutus Monroe Detail Ink – Raven. I also used embroidery floss to tie to the card. A little sparkle was added using Tulip Glitter Glue. The flowers are from Prima.

The first card I used the sketch from Paper Play Sketches #38

Current Sketch:

It was fun to have a challenge while making this card. It gave me ideas on how to use up small bits of paper I have had for a while now. I was also able to use a couple of embossing folders to get added texture to this card.
Since I got the card finished I do plan to enter it in the challenge. Who knows maybe someone will like seeing it and be inspired.
The other card designs I didn’t use a sketch I just decided to make what felt good to me. Another friend gave me a large stack of white paper doilies. So I’ve been trying to use these when possible.

Love the background paper from K&Co. I think this one turned out so pretty.
This butterfly card I thought was perfect for the Color Challenge at Paper Play Sketches and Color Challenges.
