For those that like a video here is a video. How to make a Halloween Junk Journal Page.

This Halloween Junk Journal Page was made for a page swap inside the Friendly Junk Journal People Facebook group. Every month there is a new theme and we are swapping one page with a partner.  The idea was that it would be easier to make one page to swap with another. But if more pages were wanted, just ask to be on the list for however many pages you want to create and swap.

Halloween Junk Journal Page

The swap requirements:
1. Make 1 journal page when open measure 10.5 inches wide by 8 inches tall. The folded page will be 5.25 inches wide by 8 inches tall.
2. The page should include a tuck spot
3. At least one journal card should be included
4. Sign each page so that the new owner will know you created the page. You can sign up for specific months or take the 12 month page challenge. Please note that you must sign up each month if you want to be a part of the event.

Halloween Junk Journal Page

Using the swap requirements I selected items from my stash to create the Halloween Junk Journal Page. What I found really cool was using the things that others would throw out. Like the manilla envelope from a swap, I received in the mail or the makeup booklet.

All Hallows Eve a Halloween Junk Journal

Today I’m sharing a new Junk Journal. It is an All Hallows Eve a Halloween Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Digital images, some images from my friend Janice, Stamps, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and more.

Halloween Junk Journal

Since we are having a Halloween contest in the Friendly Junk Journal People Facebook group I thought I should make a Halloween Junk Journal. Norella with Calico Collage provided a great freebie for the contest and has also agreed to give the winner a copy of the All Hallows Eve Digital junk journal kit.

Halloween Junk Journal

So I thought I should make a Halloween Junk Journal with those images so that everyone can see how cool these images are to use. Using these images makes a junk journal come together so easily.

Halloween Junk Journal Halloween Junk Journal

For this Halloween Junk Journal, I started collecting things I already had in my stash. some of those items were stickers. When out shopping I buy stickers and then I get home and forget to use them. My plan this year has been to use up the items I have and when I found the stickers I decided I will use as many as I like.

This journal also helped me use my Cricut. I did a search of all the Halloween images that I own and picked a few to cut. I didn’t use all of these images, but I had fun with the stack of things I collected. What didn’t get used in the Halloween Junk Journal will go in some RAK packages in the next few weeks. That way I get rid of this stash!

My brother gave me a box of papers and photos he picked up at an auction a few weeks ago. It is time for me to use some of those items. Digging around in the box I found some 5 x 7 black and white photos. These became some items to add into pockets.

Halloween Junk Journal

In this video, I show how to make the cover for the Halloween Junk Journal and how to sew the pages inside. At the end of the video is a flip through of the junk journal.

Making this Halloween Junk Journal was fun. It was cool to try a few new things, like stencils and the Cricut images I cut. Many people love Halloween and consider it their favorite holiday. What is your favorite holiday?

Halloween Journal Jewelry Charms

Love making journal jewelry so today I’m sharing How to make Halloween Journal Jewelry Charms for the Halloween Junk Journal I’m working on at the moment. It’s fun to see what I can add to a Junk Journal that fits the theme.

Halloween Journal Jewelry Charms

Items used for the Halloween Journal Jewelry Charms.

Needle Nose or round nose Pliers
The chain can be any color, you just want the rings big enough to attach jump rings through.
Charms and items to add to chains
Jump rings – I found a kit on Amazon that has a ton of different sizes.
Clasp
Large closed ring to hang chains

My collection of charms and components don’t include a lot of Halloween items. So I thought I would make due with what I have. Look at charms to see if there is some that could be used. While looking for charms I found wings and spiders that I thought were cool. I also found a few keys. Like the large keys I used? I have more of the large keys if anyone is interested in purchasing those in my shop.

Two Large Keys with shipping inside the US is $10.00.

Here is a video on how to make Halloween Journal Jewelry Charms.

In the video above, I show a completed beaded element. If you would like to see a video on how to make that element watch the following video, How to make Journal Charms.

Making these Halloween Journal Jewelry Charms is a lot of fun. Picking out items that go well together and make that tinkling sound when they are hanging on a journal makes me so happy.

Remember that it is okay to mix the metal colors in jewelry as it is a neutral color. So when you pick out your elements pick a variety of color and size as that adds interest.

Think outside the box when looking for journal charms too. That lonely earring can be used, that broken neckless can now have a new purpose.

One of my favorite things is making the beaded elements out of what ever beads I want that fits my mood.

The key is to have fun!

Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme

I’ve decided to share how I Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme today. My latest project is a Halloween Junk Journal and I thought it might be nice to see how to alter envelopes for this Halloween Theme.

Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme

Here is a Video on How to Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme.

It has been fun collecting envelopes. My family helps by saving the envelopes that their mail comes in so that I can alter these. What I enjoy is being able to take something that is destined for the trash and making it into something new.

Even though the envelopes I made are going inside a junk journal these can be altered to set back out in the mail. Years ago the stamp club I was a member of would decorate envelopes for our newsletters. Every month we were to bring a couple of envelopes so that the newsletter editor could mail out the newsletter in a decorated envelope. Getting those decorated envelopes was so much fun. Little works of art on the outside to hold information on the inside.

Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme

To Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme you will want a few things. Envelopes, Stamps, scraps of paper, washi tape, sewing machine (optional), cheese cloth, Tattered Anges Glimmer Mists, Halloween images (I used some from Calico Collage – All Hallows Eve digital journal kit, some distressed ink and I also used Brutus Monroe Detail ink – Raven.

Once all the supplies are gathered cut the envelope open. For my project I wanted the envelopes to be no longer than 7.25 inches. Some people will cut each end to make a centered envelope. I just cut off one side that had the return address. Then I cut the other side so that the envelope can open all the way up.

Cut a piece of scrap paper, in my case I used a page out of a book I’ve torn apart to the same size as the envelope. This scrap paper will become the new flap on the envelope. Apply distress ink to the flap and the envelope. Use washi tape to attach this to make a flap.

Now choose some of those stamps and images and apply these to the envelope. You can decide if you want to seal the envelopes sides with sewing, washi tape or glue. I like sewing these. Sometimes I leave it so that it can be opened all the way and journal inside.

There is no wrong way to create items for a junk journal. I hope that you enjoyed seeing how I Alter Envelopes Halloween Theme.

Chuck Carson Scarecrow – Happiest Halloween

Happiest Halloween it is sure to be using the Scarecrow from the Chuck Carson Collection for Brutus Monroe. I’m over on the Brutus Monroe Inspiration Team blog with a new project today.

It was fun using these stamps. The main reason is because I’m on the Inspiration Team. That means they are looking to me for Inspiration on using their products. This can put a lot of pressure on a person!!! But this is also something that I wanted to try. I wanted to push myself to try something new, to step outside of my comfort zone and think outside of the box. So far I’m loving this experience.  I’m meeting new people and learning new things.

Come along and see what I created. I know you will enjoy the Chuck Carson Collection for Brutus Monroe, make sure you get yours fast as these are a limited edition.

Chuck Carson Collection for Brutus Monroe Shaker Card

My guest post for the Chuck Carson Collection for Brutus Monroe Shaker Card Featuring the Spooky Selfie stamps as a member of the Inspiration Team.

I’m excited to get to use a new line of stamps for the first time. It’s like when you hear about someone getting an advanced copy of a book or a product before everyone else does. I got stamps before the public so that I could create art! I was stoked!

The other thing I’m exited about? Getting to post my artwork on a mixed media website. These are things I’ve been wanting to do for a long time but kept putting things off. I didn’t seek the opportunity. You can talk about doing something for a long time, but if you don’t take action then you will never reach your goal. Well I took action and I’m working on a long term goal. Follow along my journey and I hope you enjoy while I share art and learn about new products and meet new people.

Go check out this Shaker Card with a video and let me know what you thought.
