A video flip-through of Orange Natures Beauty Travelers Notebook Junk Journal.

Recently I picked up a set of Orange papers from Canvas Corp Brands. I though these paired with the Natures Glory digital images from Calico Collage would go together nicely.

Once I had the pages cut to the size I wanted I used the leleftoverits to make journaling cards or tuck spots.

Ripping pages out of an old book is so much fun and even better is to turn these into new pages for a junk journal. I did this with two sets of pages in the journal. First I take two pages and add washi tape to attach and reinforce the center. Next I used some tissue paper, gesso and some Ranger sprays that I had in my stash. I used the same stencil on both of the sets so that there was some cohesiveness in the Orange Natures Beauty Travelers Notebook Junk Journal.

While digging through my stash of items I found some really cool computer punch cards. These were given to me years ago and I hadn’t used but a few, These made perfect journaling cards for the journal. A few I painted, added bits of paper, wallpaper, and sewing. Of course they also have Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists added too.

Another item I found in my stash was popcorn bags. The old fashion paper type. I decided to paint the front with gesso and attach a floral napkin and a little more gesso on top.  These were then used as inserts in the journal. One I attached to a page so that there is the bag to add items into and the behind is a tuck spot.

Wallpaper samples are great go use as pages in junk journals too. For the Orange Natures Beauty Travelers Notebook Junk Journal I decided to add a couple of wallpaper items. Die cutting the wallpaper for a corner tuck spot turned out pretty. I love the flowers on the wallpaper.

Several of the Calico Collage images were added into this junk journal with washi tape and some with sewing. Many of the images flip out so that journaling can be done on the back side.

There is even a Lavender Sachet included in this journal. It has real lavender flowers enclosed in paper and tulle. I love how it smells.

Holding this Orange Natures Beauty Travelers Notebook Junk Journal in my hands makes me happy. I love the texture and colors on the pages. Sometimes when I look at what I created I think: “Did I make that?” I feel I have grown as an artist and have learned a lot.

To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal

To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal using Calico Collage Digital Images Love Story, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Lace, Scraps of paper, paper napkins and sewing. There is a lot of yummy texture in this To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal.

To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal

Video flip through of To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal.

I wasn’t sure how big to make the To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal so I asked a few of my friends in Junk Journals Junkies 1 what their thoughts were. What I should have done as asked a day in advance but I was in the middle of making this journal and asked my question: How many signatures and pages should be in this junk journal? I asked one signature of 10 to 15 pages or Three signatures of 10 sheets each. At first, the one signature was winning out. But later the next day the Three signature book was ahead.

In this To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal I decided to make it with 12 sheets of paper that are folded in half. This makes 48 pages to work with in this junk journal. Measuring 5.25 in x 7.5 in. Lace around the edge of the cover and bits of lace throughout the journal as well.

There are so many things I want to add to a junk journal. It is really hard to get all the items in, without spending days or adding one hundred pages. LOL

For this To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal I decided to do a little mixed media. Taking two pages out of an old book – these came free of the book as an attached pair. I used washi tape down the Center to give more strength to the pages and then I proceeded to paint with gesso. Once the Gesso was dry I then adhered a napkin. The key is to remove the layers of the napkin and I used Acrylic Gel Medium to adhere. It’s okay if there are wrinkles. It adds to the texture. On top of the napkin I added more gesso. The edges have been aged with distressed inks and there is a little bit of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists as well.

When I cut down the page to fit into my desired size, I had scraps left over. This gave me an idea to make small pockets and to use on the top of tags for journal spots. My sewing machine came in handy for attaching the elements together and I love the texture and feel of romance it adds.

There is a fun pocket page that I added to this journal that one of my youtube fans introduced to me. She very kindly gave me a beautiful Junk Journal and it had one of this pocket pages inside. It took me a moment, but I figured out how it was made and decided to make my own with this beautiful glitter printed mulberry looking paper.

Love using Calico Collage images. These are so beautiful. And very easy to create a junk journal around.

To Have and To Hold Wedding Junk Journal

This would make a great wedding gift or a bridal shower gift so that the bride could record special memories leading up to her wedding.

Gypsy Soul Junk Journal

Finished a new junk journal. Gypsy Soul Junk Journal made using Calico Collage Gypsy Love digital images, Lots of lace, Velvet fabric for the cover, Stamping throughout and more.

Gypsy Soul Junk Journal

This Gypsy Soul Junk Journal measures 6.5 in. x 9.5 in. with a 1.25 in. spine. There are three signatures with 8 pages in each for a grand total of 96 pages. The sheets are 8.5 x 11 inch folded in half.

Here is a video flip through of the Gypsy Soul Junk Journal.

For the pages I used the sheets I line my Tattered Angels Spray box. So there is lots of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists on all of the pages.

The lined pages are a linen paper that I printed lines on each side. I like having lines to write in my journals.

Lots of washi tape used on several elements in this Gypsy Soul Junk Journal.

I even sewed lace on several of the journal cards. Then added distressed Inks to add more color. You will find that I like bright colors in my junk journals. I’m not one for the old paper look. I want color.

Lots of sewn elements in this journal. The most I’ve done so far in a junk journal. I like using the pages out of an old book to add pockets, tuck spots etc. It is fun to figure out new ways to make a cool tuck spot in these junk journals.

When I work on a junk journal I try to use as many scraps of paper from my stash. For example, the journal cards throughout this journal are all from scraps. Some may not have made it for the final cut in the original project so these went into my scrap bin.

Many people made fun of me for keeping all of these scraps, I even sort these by color. But now I’m able to use these up in Junk Journals. The funkier the piece the better.

Recently a friend gave me a box of fabric. I decided to dig through it and see what I found. I didn’t get far into the box and I found a beautiful piece of velvet. This is perfect for the cover. Don’t you just love the feel of velvet?

Making these junk journals gives me so much joy. I love to flip through and look at all the elements. I hope that you enjoy seeing what I create too.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

I made a Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit. This kit is so beautiful I just had to make another journal using these papers. Many of the pages can be used outside of Valentines and I know I’ll be printing more of these for other projects.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

For this journal I decided to make the journal out of 11 in. x 17 in. card stock folded into thirds with pockets. There are lots of tutorials out there on how to make a journal like this so I won’t take the time to explain. But if you are interested I’ll make a follow up post.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

Once I had the pages defined I started distressing the papers and adding each of the printed images or scrap papers to the pages.

Every page has something added. Either it has a pocket or a tuck spot. All kinds of places to add notes or photos. Lots of little bits to write love notes or memories.

My thought was this would be a great journal to write love notes to that one that you love and give it to them. What fun would they have going through each page looking at each item. They could enjoy seeing the beautiful papers and seeing what you add to the book.

Valentines Love Journal Inside Heart Box

DigiThis is a Valentines Love Journal Inside Heart Box I created using the Calico Collage Digital images. Love using the Valentines Love, digital files and having this heart shaped candy box was a great way to show off some love.

Valentines Love Journal Inside Heart Box

Since joining the Calico Collage team I’ve had so much fun! When she posted the Valentines Love papers I had an idea that I wanted to try. Searching through my stash. If you haven’t seen my studio post go check it out. I found my stash of boxes that my brother gave to me years ago. He used to work for Godiva.

Working in my Silhouette Design software I Traced the heart shape from the box and then began cutting hearts to make the pages. Thankful that the Silhouette software is so easy to use.

Once all of the papers were cut it was time to start putting the accordion book together. Using washi tape I adhered each heart to make an accordion book.

Valentines Love Journal Inside Heart Box

When all of the pages were created I then began decorating with the beautiful Calico Collage papers. I also used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Brutus Monroe and Tim Holtz inks. A few pages of Canvas Corp Brands papers and some miscellaneous papers were used.

Again the Silhouette Cameo 3 was used to cut mats and tags for the journal.

A Martha Stewart lacy edge punch was used to give a beautiful detail to several of the pages. When the punched edge shows then that was a place for a pocket.

It was fun making this journal. Being able to use up a lot of the supplies I had in my stash was a big plus.

Quick process video. Most of it is speed up so that you don’t have to spend two hours watching.
