Chopper Happy Birthday Greeting Card

How to make a Chopper Happy Birthday Greeting Card using Rinea foil, Tonic Studios die and Diamond plate embossing folder from Darice. Just a few weeks ago I purchased the Chopper Bike die from Tonic Studios. Today I decided to make a card using this new die.

Chopper Happy Birthday Greeting Card

Knowing that the Rinea foil I wanted to use was two sided I began the process. The foil I selected is the smooth gold and silver color.

I’m so glad that I picked up the Diamond Plate embossing folder as this was the perfect background to go with the Chopper.

Supplies and Tools Used for Chopper Happy Birthday Greeting Card
Gold / Silver Rinea Foil
Chopper Bike – Tonic Studios
Diamond Plate embossing folder – Darice
Happy Birthday – Brutus Monroe Sharon’s Script
Detail Ink Raven – Brutus Monroe
Black brads – Paper Studio
White A2 greeting card
Scraps of watercolor paper and black cardstock
Zig Two Way Glue
Thermoweb Tape Runner XL
Tim Holtz Vagabond by Sizzix
Awl or piercing tool
Aleene’s Tacky Glue
Fiskars 5 Inch Softgrip Scissors
White Adhesive Foam Squares

Chopper Happy Birthday Greeting Card

The process is pretty easy for this card. To begin cut a piece of the gold/silver foil just under 4.25 in. x 5.5 in. This will be the background and topper for the card. Place the silver side up inside the Diamond Plate embossing folder and put through the Tim Holtz Vagabond machine from Sixxiz.

Die cut the chopper bike with the gold side of the Rinea paper. Die cut the chopper out of two scraps of watercolor paper. These will be used to raise the chopper up and add dimension.

Adhere the three choppers together using Zig Two Way glue with the gold chopper on top.

Using an awl or hole punch, pierce the silver diamond plate paper in all four corners. Place black brads in each corner. Adhere silver panel to the A2 greeting card using Thermoweb Tape Runner XL.

Stamp Happy Birthday with Brutus Monroe Detail Ink Raven on a scrap of white card stock. Glue to a slightly large scrap of black cardstock with Aleene’s Tacky Glue. Trim the ends with scissors to look like a pennate. Using White Adhesive Foam Squares on the sentiment mount in the upper center of the card.

Adhere Chopper Bike to the card using Aleene’s Tacky Glue.

Admire the Chopper Happy Birthday Greeting Card that you just made.

Simple card huh? My husband really liked how the diamond plate set off the Chopper Bike on this card. He said it was one of his favorite cards. I think partly is because it is a “guys” card and there was nothing girly about this one at all.

Creative Session of Card Making

Today I want to share my Creative Session of Card Making that I had. It was one of those days that I decided I needed to make a few cards and try a new item. Don’t you love getting new toys to play with in your studio?

The new toy is the Spellbinders S5-195 Nestabilities Whirl About Die Templates. These are Cut, fold and tuck dies. While out and about a while back I picked up this set thinking it would be fun to play with.

But first I had to figure out how to use these dies. Since the dies don’t come with instructions I had to turn to the internet. Well, they have instructions on how to put the dies through a machine, but not on how to assemble the cut paper.

I finally found a video on Spellbinders YouTube channel and this helped me to figure out how to use this set of dies.

Now that I had instructions and understood how the dies worked I was set to have a Creative Session of Card Making.

For these cards, I decided I would test out the the dies on a scrap of paper. It was left over from a project where I sprayed the cardstock with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. I thought why not use it for testing. If it turned out great then I would have some pretty cards. if not well it was just a scrap of paper.

First I decided that I would need a color on both sides of the paper. So I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Cranberry Zing and a small amount of Turquoise Blue. Then I set to cut out the images. The dies cut really well on the thick cardstock.

The fold and tuck method worked great. Since I was having success with the cut images I decided to go ahead and finish out the cards.

I sprayed papers with the same Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Cranberry Zing colors. A couple of the cards I stamped on these papers.

Then I layered these up and added a sentiment from the Brutus Monroe Sharon’s Script stamp set using the Brutus Monroe Detail Ink – Raven. Added some bling and called it done. Oh, I forgot to say I also sprayed the ribbon to match. I was looking for a wide ribbon in my stash but only had light blue ribbon. So I though I’ll just spray it to match. Love how it turned out.

I have these cards for sale in my shop, feel free to take a look. If you are looking for custom cards, hit me up. I’ll be glad to work with you. Interested in purchasing the finished cards I make? The cards a usually blank inside and come with a matching envelope. The cards I make are A2 size or 4.25 in. x 5.5 in. in size. If you are wanting a greeting on the inside feel free to email me to discuss details or to connect with me via my Facebook page.

What the desk looked like when I was done with Creative Session of Card Making. lol

On Brutus Monroe Be Unique Bulldog Greeting card

On Brutus Monroe, Be Unique Bulldog Greeting card I made with a cool watercolor background. I love how this card turned out. There is so much personality in that little bulldog. Don’t you want to rock with him?

Be Unique Bulldog Greeting card

This background just brings out the personality in the bulldog. I love being able to create new backgrounds with tools I already have don’t you? Having all the wonderful inks pads from Brutus Monroe on hand helped to make this background.

This can be used for more than today’s Be Unique Bulldog Greeting card.  Think about putting flowers over the top. Choosing a fun saying. There are so many options just keep playing, you will get so many beautiful backgrounds to use.

The technique for Be Unique Bulldog Greeting card.

On a craft mat smash, a swipe of Rouge, Zest and Sea with a little space between. Spritz these with water.

Take a piece of watercolor paper and swipe through the colors. Dry with a heat tool for a moment. Apply more color as wanted drying between swipes so that the colors don’t muddy. Love how every time this technique is done it is different.

Stamp the Bulldog and Be Unique phrase with Brutus Monroe Detail Ink – Raven. Edge the card with Detail Ink – Raven.

Mount card top with Aleenes Tacky Glue, to a standard A2 card. If the top is still damp lay a large acrylic block on top of the card until it dries. This will keep it from curling.

This is a super simple card that looks like it took forever to make. I just love playing with this background and seeing how the different colors look behind the stamped images.

Here is a video of the whole process.

Have some fun with this technique there is just so much you can do this. And make sure you head over to the Brutus Monroe Blog and store so you too can create a Be Unique Bulldog Greeting card.

Cricut Beautiful Shaker Card

Today I’m sharing a Cricut Beautiful Shaker Card for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog Challenge # 295 Sequins or other Embellishments. Sponsored by SpieglMom. Projects are to have at least one Cricut cut and Sequins or other embellishments.

For my project, I decided to make a shaker card using the Yellow Frame from the Stand & Salute Cartridge.

Cricut Beautiful Shaker Card

Cut pink texture card stock at 3.25 in wide. Use the cut image to then cut a window out of a piece of fun foam. Cut a piece of white cardstock the same size as the top, this will be the back.

I find that cutting a back the same size as the front makes putting a shaker card together much easier.

White card stock cut at 4 in x 5.25 was used for the background. The Tim Holtz stencil and Texture paste was used. Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist colors: Party Pin and Cranberry Zing colored the background. Rouge Chalk in from Brutus Monroe was used around the edges of the A2 Greeting card.

On the back piece of the shaker card stamp the Botanical Background stamp from Brutus Monroe with Embossing Ink. Then spray with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists: Party Pink and Turquoise Blue.

Stamp the Botanical Background stamp on the pink shaker card front with Rouge Chalk ink from Brutus Monroe.

Cricut Beautiful Shaker Card

On a scrap of white card stock stamp the word Beautiful from the Beautiful stamp set from Brutus Monroe with Embossing ink, emboss with black powder. Use distress blending tool to add Rouge chalk ink to the edge after trimming down and rounding the corners of this piece.

Assemble the shaker card by attaching the fun foam to the Botanical background. Fill shaker card with sequins, butterfly sequins, and hole-less beads. Place shaker card top with acetate over fun foam.

Add 3D dots to the back of Beautiful sentiment and attach to lower right corner of the card.

What are your thoughts on this Cricut Beautiful Shaker Card? I love how a shaker card makes me feel. It is like a grown up toy. Have fun making one yourself.

Stash Challenge Dies 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

This post is all about Stash Challenge Dies 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. The current weekly challenge is to go back and choose a previous challenge. Looking back through the challenges was fun. It was a hard decision but I finally found one that I wanted to use, from the May 2016 challenge.

Stash Challenge Dies 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

Digging around in my stash of dies I found the label or note die from Stampin Up and an old Star die from Sizzix. I knew that these would be perfect for this project.

Thankful that I have a stash of chipboard in my studio, I die cut one of each. Using acrylic paint I covered the star until it was coated to my liking. Once the paint was dry I then sprayed with Summer Chalk Shimmer Sprays – Zest – Brutus|Monroe and a gold/copper Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.

When the spray dried I used the MISTY to help with positioning the poinsettia from the Sketched Holiday Set – Brutus|Monroe. Stamped with the Brutus|Monroe embossing ink, then gold embossing powder.

A technique I like to use, take a Zig two way glue pen and go around the edge of the star, then dip into gold embossing powder. Heat the powder until it shines gold.

Stash Challenge Dies 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

Time to tackle the label or note die from Sizzix. Because this is for the Stash Challenge Dies 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and I have decided to use more than one die. Taking the Mini Chalk Ink pad Suede from Brutus|Monroe I went around the edge.

I just love the Tissue paper from Canvas Corp Brands, found in a mixed media pack. Tearing a strip and using white glue I glued a strip at a diagonal on the label die. Then filled the corners with additional strips. Sprayed with Summer Chalk Shimmer Sprays – Zest and a gold/copper Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels, I love the shimmer it adds.

Reapply the Mini Chalk Ink pad Suede around the edges and between the strips. While the ink is still moist on the paper dip into gold embossing powder and heat. This really makes such a beautiful background, makes me think of a gilded box that has aged.

Stash Challenge Dies 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

Tied a bow out of a cream and gold ribbon. Don’t forget to shop in the Christmas ornament isle the next time you go out. That is where I found the little gold and glitter stars. Using three of the stars and a glue dot I placed these at the top point of the star with the ribbon glued with white glue. The star was layered on top of a small strip of burlap, then the label. Last I used a gold embossed napkin.

This is a very elegant Christmas card and I feel that it was perfect for this Stash Challenge Dies 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

Here is a video of the process.
