Pin Up Tag Tutorial

It is the first of July, wow this year is flying by! Today I’m sharing a Pin Up Tag Tutorial inspired by the time of year. I know sounds strange, stick with me. So many of us made a resolution in January to use up or stash. This is something I strive to do all the time every year. But I was looking at a bunch of scraps and leftover projects that I thought, why not do a self-challenge for July and try to create something every day from items in my stash. #useitupjuly was my idea to use as a hashtag. lol

Here is a video showing the Pin Up Tag Tutorial.

On my desk is a basket that collects scraps from projects. When I complete a video or project I’ll pop the leftover bits into the basket. Then when I need something quick to make I have items to grab. This basket is getting too full! That is why I decided to use it up a little at a time.

This Pin Up Tag Tutorial is really easy. Begin by grabbing up those leftover bits. This is a great way to make tags or even bookmarks. These you can use in journals, books or even give as a gift.

Trim papers to fit your idea. I don’t always measure, I just look and see where it needs to be cut. No stress this way. lol

Using a stencil on white paper is so pretty. It instantly turns it into a patterned paper. The shimmer is so beautiful it makes me smile to see it on a project.

Many of my projects I use my sewing machine. I just love the little details it adds to a project.

Glitter paint is something that makes items look even more vintage to me. Those old-fashioned cards that would have highlights of glitter always made me happy.

Since I began my crafting with sewing I have a large stash of fabric. My friends love to give me scraps as well so the pile is getting big and this was a perfect opportunity to use fabric as ribbons on the tags.

There is something about adding a single word to a project that completes the piece. It may not be needed all the time, but on some occasions adding a single word just adds the perfect touch.

These Pin Up Tags/bookmarks will be for sale at the Pin Up Girls Bazaar in Oklahoma City July 22. Come out and see lots of beautiful items for sale.

Gel Prints into Junk Journal Elements

It has been a few days since I did the Gel Press Play Time and now it is time to use the Gel Prints into Junk Journal Elements. This project a was also prompted because I’m in a blog hop #thanks4watchingart on YouTube with a lot of very talented artists. Make sure that you visit each one to see their projects.

Gel Press Play Time

Using my new Gemini cutter from Crafters Companion with their dies I was able to sit and play for a while and turn the Gel Prints into Junk Journal Elements. I love how intricate the dies cut even on thin papers.  Too many times in the past I would cut a die and it wouldn’t do a good job, but the Gemini cuts beautifully every time.

Here is a video showing how I took the Gel Prints into Junk Journal Elements.

Supplies used today in this project Gel Prints into Junk Journal Elements.

My method was to use the pages I had with the dies from Crafters Companion in the Gemini and see how it turned out.  Each print is unique, even when I used the same colors no two were the same, similar but not the same. I love this idea of making a bunch of prints and then using these for junk journal elements. It was fun to use the Gel Prints into Junk Journal Elements.

Before you throw out those old papers and pages take a look at my Gel Press Play Time post and see if you can then turn these Gel Prints into Junk Journal Elements like I did.

Once you get started you won’t know when to stop. lol Have fun making your own.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

I made a Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit. This kit is so beautiful I just had to make another journal using these papers. Many of the pages can be used outside of Valentines and I know I’ll be printing more of these for other projects.

For this journal, I decided to make the journal out of 11 in. x 17 in. card stock folded into thirds with pockets. There are lots of tutorials out there on how to make a journal like this so I won’t take the time to explain. But if you are interested I’ll make a follow-up post.

Once I had the pages defined I started distressing the papers and adding each of the printed images or scrap papers to the pages.

Every page has something added. Either it has a pocket or a tuck spot. All kinds of places to add notes or photos. Lots of little bits to write love notes or memories.

My thought was this would be a great journal to write love notes to that one that you love and give it to them. What fun would they have going through each page looking at each item. They could enjoy seeing the beautiful papers and seeing what you add to the book.

Here is a list of some of the items used in the Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit:

A flip through video shows all of the pages and the items added.

This video is a process video that shows how the book was made. It took over 3 hours to make this journal. Actually more as some of the time was planning on how to create the journal.

I really enjoyed making this Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit. There will be more journals offered in my shop so keep coming back to see what I have created.
