Junk Journal Note Cards

Junk Journal Note Cards, what are these and how to make them. This is the reason for the post today. There are so many ways to make journal note cards for a junk journal. Today I’m just sharing one idea that I hope will inspire you.

Junk Journal Note Cards

For years I have collected paper items. It goes in stages of collecting and using. When I originally found the papers I had other plans for them and used some for those ideas. Now that I’m making Junk Journals these paper items are getting a new use.

Bingo Card
Watercolor Paper
Glue Stick
Aleene’s Tacky Glue
Distressed Ink – Vintage Photo
Blending tool
Vintage photo
Scrap paper.
Sewing Machine

The supply list is short and simple. I’m sure you can find a few things to make Junk Journal Note Cards in your stash too.

Here is a video on How to make Junk Journal Note Cards.

The process is very simple. Selecting the items from my stash I proceeded to cut the papers as necessary.

Using Distressed Ink – Vintage Photo I added a bit of color around the edges of the papers.

Layered the dictionary page onto watercolor paper using a glue stick and then sewed with a zig zag stitch on a standard sewing machine.

Once the sewing was done I then proceeded to layer the other elements. One of the elements was cutting the definition for the word Love and layering on top. When I make journal cards I like for these to remain flat so that it is easy to write on the backside.

Making Junk Journal Note Cards is a lot of fun and a great way to use up bits and pieces that you may have in your stash. Take a look around and see if you can find some cool images inside a magazine, junk mail, old photos, and more.

Here are a few other Junk Journal Note Cards that I made using this same process.

Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit

I made a Valentine Junk Journal Using Calico Collage Journal Kit. This kit is so beautiful I just had to make another journal using these papers. Many of the pages can be used outside of Valentines and I know I’ll be printing more of these for other projects.

For this journal I decided to make the journal out of 11 in. x 17 in. card stock folded into thirds with pockets. There are lots of tutorials out there on how to make a journal like this so I won’t take the time to explain. But if you are interested I’ll make a follow up post.

Once I had the pages defined I started distressing the papers and adding each of the printed images or scrap papers to the pages.

Every page has something added. Either it has a pocket or a tuck spot. All kinds of places to add notes or photos. Lots of little bits to write love notes or memories.

My thought was this would be a great journal to write love notes to that one that you love and give it to them. What fun would they have going through each page looking at each item. They could enjoy seeing the beautiful papers and seeing what you add to the book.

Prompt 1 Art 52 Cafe Cards

Sharing Prompt 1 Art 52 Cafe Cards #52cafecards from the Maremi’s Creative Cafe. The idea is to create ATC’s every week of the year. Marta has started a couple of weeks late, but she has given us prompts and a place to post our work.

Prompt 1 Art 52 Cafe Cards

The first prompt is Art. For my first project I decided to use:

Calico Collage Digital Image from Romantic Lovers
Tim Holtz stamp – Artist
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists – Vintage Pink and Sapphire
Scrap of a die cut
Tim Holtz disress ink Brushed Corduroy
Brutus Monroe Detail ink – Raven
Paper Studios – flat back pearls
Black and white cardstock
Jute bow
White Craft glue

Prompt 1 Art 52 Cafe Cards was a fun project to make. Getting back into making ATC’s is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while and having this challenge is the perfect way for me to do so.

Prompt 1 Art 52 Cafe Cards

Used lots of layers on this card. The finished card is thick and sturdy. When I use lots of layers like this I love how the card feels in my hand. It has substance and feels like a piece of art, not just a stack of papers.

Using glimmer mists over the image gives a soft shimmer and the couple glows. It’s difficult to see in photos, but in person it is beautiful.

Here is a video of the process.

Wonder why I paired the word Artist with the Romantic Couple? Well just look at how they are kissing. Don’t you think someone is an Artist at romance?
