Halloween Witches Junk Journals

It’s Fall and time for Halloween and today I’m sharing four Halloween Witches Junk Journals I made using Calico Collage digital images, Canvas Corp Brands Halloween cardstock, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and more.

Halloween Witches Junk Journals

Last week I visited Canvas Corp Brands Home office and was able to pick up a few new things. I also got a few RAK’s (Random Act of Kindness) packages in the mail filled with Halloween items. This prompted me to take a look at my stash and see that I had some Calico Collage digital images ready to use.

The result was four Halloween Witches Junk Journals. Each journal has 8 sheets of paper folded in half for a total of 32 pages to add memories. The journals are almost 5 inches by 7 inches in size. Lots of Stamping and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists were used in each journal.

Here is a flip through video for the four Halloween Witches Junk Journals.

Being able to use the papers and images along with the items that were sent to me was wonderful. Using my sewing machine to add a few stitches here and there brings me joy. This was also a great time to bust out my Halloween Stamps, some I’ve had for years.

Although each journal has the same basic papers and I used some of the same techniques each is unique. Stamping, Spraying Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, adding stickers and more help to make each one unique.

How do you celebrate Halloween? Usually, we are away but this year I think we will be home to hand out candy to the local kids.

How to make a Witch ATC

Because of some groups and challenges, I’m sharing this post, How to make a Witch ATC. using things from my stash and a few purchased items I’ll share how to make a witch ATC.

Witch ATC

I’m a member of Paper Crafters United and we are doing a video blog hop and this is week three. The challenge this week is to alter an item. The only rules were to use items from our stash and cannot use, Digital Images or Scrapbook paper.

There is also part an Instagram hop #witchesofigwickhop 15 crafty witches are putting you under a spell with witchy projects.

Then finally I have a trade with Betz Golden for a Halloween ATC and I decided to make a witch ATC for her.

Many times I get asked how do I choose a project to make. Many times it is because of a challenge, swap, blog hop or because I got something new and a design team has a deadline. lol Occasionally I decide because of my mood and create something just because.

For the Witch ATC, I used the following items.
An Old Photo
Paper backing from Brutus Monroe
Cricut Witch Hat cut on black paper #M42634 Paper Doll Dress Up®
Page from an old book
Distressed Ink – Black Soot and Vintage Photo
Halloween stickers
Gold with white star washi tape (found a different one on Amazon)
Aleene’s Tacky Glue
Fiskar Scissors
Paper Trimmer / cutter

Here is a video showing the process of making this Witch ATC.

Once all the items were selected it was very simple to make this ATC. I began by cutting the image of the girl out of the photo. Then I trimmed the paper backing paper from Brutus Monroe. Added a little Black Soot Distressed inks around the edge of the card base.

Applied the gold star washi tape to the Cricut Witch Hat and trimmed sides.

Trimmed the title from the book – The Ghostly Procession to fit on the front of the card. Used Vintage Photo Distressed ink then applied to card base.

Layered the book title, girl and the hat using Aleene’s Tacky Glue.

Adhered spider stickers and the phrase “the Witching Hour is Here” on top. Done!

Being able to use up things I had with a few purchased items feels great! I’m slowly using up my stash of collected things.

For those that like a video here is a video. How to make a Halloween Junk Journal Page.

This Halloween Junk Journal Page was made for a page swap inside the Friendly Junk Journal People Facebook group. Every month there is a new theme and we are swapping one page with a partner.  The idea was that it would be easier to make one page to swap with another. But if more pages were wanted, just ask to be on the list for however many pages you want to create and swap.

Halloween Junk Journal Page

The swap requirements:
1. Make 1 journal page when open measure 10.5 inches wide by 8 inches tall. The folded page will be 5.25 inches wide by 8 inches tall.
2. The page should include a tuck spot
3. At least one journal card should be included
4. Sign each page so that the new owner will know you created the page. You can sign up for specific months or take the 12 month page challenge. Please note that you must sign up each month if you want to be a part of the event.

Using the swap requirements I selected items from my stash to create the Halloween Junk Journal Page. What I found really cool was using the things that others would throw out. Like the manilla envelope from a swap, I received in the mail or the makeup booklet.
