While the men in our lives would love to see a \u201cstrip show\u201d that isn\u2019t what this article is about. Instead, It’s about How to Strip quilt. I’ve made a few and here is my experience.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sharing my experience with Strip quilting.<\/p>\n

A couple of months ago I went to Threads of Tradition<\/a> in Yukon, OK to purchase some fabric and while I was there.\"3<\/a>Rocky one of the wonderful ladies that works there asked me if I picked up the pattern for the 3 yard quilt. I had not, so Rocky and then Ann started showing me examples and explaining the very simple instructions. I did a quick search on the internet and the original pattern was from Wood Valley Designs<\/a>. Rocky and Ann made a photocopy of the pattern they had and I went home to sew…<\/p>\n

How to Strip pattern tells you to buy 1 yard of each fabric. I started to do the math and decided that I really didn\u2019t need a full yard of each fabric and began pulling fabric from my stash to make the first quilt. The fabrics I wanted to use were pieces that were left over from other projects or fabrics that I bought because they were a remnant or on sale. I quickly realized that I didn\u2019t have enough of one of the fabrics, but I really liked the combination I had come up with so I did some more digging in my stash and found a piece of black fabric that I could cut into eight 1 1\/4 inch strips. I was in business. The light pink flower fabric I cut into 2-inch strips. The other two fabrics I had enough to cut the correct size.<\/p>\n

Once I had all of the fabrics cut I laid them out in the order to be sewn on my cutting table and took my time sewing each strip together since I had altered the pattern a little. I didn\u2019t want to mess this up!<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t take me very long to finish the top of this quilt! I was so excited that I started pulling fabric making piles of three so I could make more. Now I have made a dozen quilt tops! These are going to be most of the Christmas presents I give out this year. I like the size of this lap quilt. It is perfect for taking on a car trip, to sit on the sofa and cuddle with your pet or even at the office to lay on your lap. I\u2019ve gotten lots of compliments on my little quilts. I hope you enjoy stripping too. Just be careful when you tell your husband or friends, hey I\u2019m going stripping… They may not understand…<\/p>\n
