Sharing how I made a\u00a0Growing With Love Smart Pot. Recently I purchased a new Dendrobium Orchid at Lowes. I’m a member of the Oklahoma Orchid Society and many of our members have the Dendrobium Orchids. I just love the way the look and the way the flowers smell.<\/p>\n

While at Lowes for a light bulb I decided to walk over to the Orchid display to see what was being offered. When I saw this plant I just knew I had to have it in my home.<\/p>\n

When I got home an idea came to me to decorate a Smart Pot so that it would look pretty while sitting on my desk. Since I had all of the supplies it was time that I gave Heat Transfer Vinyl a try.<\/p>\n

Growing With Love Smart Pot Supplies:<\/p>\n

\nCricut Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl, Gold and Purple
\nSilhouette CAMEO\u00ae 3
\nPolka dot heart design from Silhouette Library
\nLove Script from Silhouette Library
\nSamantha Script Font
\nWeeding tool
\nScissors
\nIron
\nRanger Non Stick Craft Sheet<\/p>\n

Growing With Love Smart Pot Process:<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/p>\n

Created design in Silhouette Studio\u00ae by removing the dots from the heart. Layer Love on top of heart to get proper size.<\/p>\n

Opened Character map chose font Samantha Italic. Selected G from Character Map, copy. Paste into Silhouette Studio\u00ae, make desired size. Type rest of the word \u201cgrowing\u201d with Text tool selected Samantha Italic font.<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/p>\n

Choose Offset tool. Select distance 0.0125. Remove original layer. Move letters until all units are touching. Select entire word and weld. Type \u201cwith\u201d and repeat same process.<\/p>\n

Size each word until pleasing. My words and heart grouped together were 4.5 in. tall. Select words, Flip Horizontally.<\/p>\n

Create a weeding box around Words and Heart. This step will make weeding so much easier.<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/p>\n

Prepare to cut HTV. Press Cut tool. Select heart and choose \u201cno cut\u201d. Select words and choose cut. Load Gold HTV into Silhouette CAMEO\u00ae without mat. Press send to Silhouette. Once the gold has cut. Go back to design and select the words and choose \u201cno cut\u201d. Select the heart and choose cut. Load Purple HTV into Silhouette CAMEO\u00ae without mat. Press send to Silhouette.<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/p>\n

Tip: If vinyl has been on a roll for a long time it will curl. Try flattening it with your hands or even placing it under a book for a little while. When I was cutting my vinyl tried to curl back up and jam in my machine.<\/p>\n

Follow the directions to apply the brand of HTV you have.<\/p>\n

The smart pot is made of synthetic materials. Be careful not to melt the pot. Test iron with transfer sheet inside the pot to make sure you have the correct heat setting.<\/p>\n

\"GrowingTransfer the design to the pot. Apply the Heart and Growing with, iron.<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/p>\n

Remove transfer tape.<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/p>\n

Apply Love over heart, iron.<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/p>\n

Remove transfer tape.<\/p>\n

Fluff pot back to original shape.<\/p>\n

\"Growing<\/p>\n

Place plant inside pot. Since my pot will be indoors I have a plant tray to keep water from ruining my table.<\/p>\n

This was my first time to use Heat Transfer Vinyl. Now that I\u2019ve made a project, I think I\u2019ll be making a lot more!<\/p>\n
