Supplies used for the Paper Lace Edge Tutorial
- Cardstock
- Paper Edge Punch
- Aleene’s Tacky Glue
- Sewing Machine
- Fiskars Rotary Cutter
- Distress Ink, Walnut Stain
- Blending Tool
This is a super easy way to add a decorative edge to journal pages. Select a paper edge punch that fits your style. There are several on the market, I have provided a link to a selection on Amazon.
Punch the edge of cardstock, aligning the punch image each time.
Cut the punched edge from the parent sheet. I use a Fiskars Rotary Cutter as I feel it is the straightest cutter I’ve found in a while.
Apply distress inks to the edge of the strip if you like the vintage look.
Adhere the strip with a thin line of glue to hold the paper in place, more if you are not going to sew the strip down.
Use a standard sewing machine with a standard needle and thread to stitch the strip in place once the glue has dried. Tip: make sure to let the glue dry or it will gum up the needle and the paper can tear. If your machine has fancy stitches and it is hard to remember the settings you like, sew samples on index cards and write the settings you used to get the stitch.
See I told you it was a very easy tutorial! Use this Paper Lace Edge Tutorial to guide you in creating your own fancy edges.
