In this blog post I’ll share the Monochrome Junk Journal Cover Tutorial. Using chipboard, fabric, lace and some paper items I’ll show how to create a Midori Style Journal Cover. A Midori style cover allows journals to be removed from the cover, makes it easier to write in the journal.

Using chipboard, fabric, lace and some paper items Linda shows how to create a Midori Style Journal Cover. Midori style allows you to have several removeable signatures to journal on.
Fabric Collage your cover, laying out your pieces apply a little Aleene’s Tacky Glue to hold the pieces down as you sew them to the main fabric piece.
Wait until the glue is dry before sewing them to the fabric cover!
In previous tutorials Linda showed how to create monochrome junk journal pages that created the three signatures.
Using lace adds to the outside of a journal, Linda chose a piece of lace that she toned down using Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
A strong closure is important, Linda chose to use some crochet trim that was then sewn to the inside cover, make sure to add extra stitches for sturdiness!
What themed journal are you inspired to create?
