The post today is about Green and White Poinsettia Christmas Card.

Following the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown the challenge this week was to do a previous challenge from 2016. I went back through the year and looked at lots of challenges and noticed that the challenge from March 12, 2016 had few players but the colors were Green and White. I like those colors together.

Years ago I purchased the original Personal Cricut cutter. Over the years I’ve collected cartridges and upgraded the machine. For Black Friday 2016 I was able to get the Cricut Explore Air for the low price of $92.98! Because the new Cricut has a free online software I’ve been able to do so much more!

With the Cricut and all of my cartridges now linked to the software I was able to create the Green and White Poinsettia Christmas Card. I pulled in the images that I wanted to use and sized them for the front of my card. The poinsettia is from Joys of the Season Cartridge Even adding additional layers to the poinsettia since I knew that I wanted more dimension.

What I really love about this machine is I get to chose what I want to cut. Choosing images for my projects is so much fun and makes each project unique.

To get the additional color and dimension I used Glitter and Glitter embossing powder. The glitter was simple holiday glitter that came in a multi pack. The embossing powder is clear with glitter. For the background I used the Filigree stamp from Stampin Up. Do you have a go to item in your studio? Well this is one of those go to items for me.

If you haven’t used a stylus tool to give dimension you really should. Flipping the flower over and pushing the stylus on the flower petals gives the flower texture. Each flower got this treatment, including the leaves.

Once all of the texture was applied I used a direct to paper technique and applied versamark ink to a few of the flowers and the corner pieces. Then sprinkled the glitter embossing powder over the flowers, heated. When the flowers were done I then used a Zig two way glue pen to add glitter to the leaves.

Merry Christmas was stamped and embossed in Gold. Then layered onto a piece of green cardstock that had glitter applied around the edges. I also used a corner punch to add a touch of elegance.

This Green and White Poinsettia Christmas Card turned out beautiful. It is an elegant card I know anyone who receives this card will truly appreciate the work that was put into the card. They would treat it like a small work of art.
