Creativation in Phenoix AZ kept me busy even in my hotel room before the show. While waiting for the opening day of the show I decided to use the Canvas Corp Brands new Nautical Line of papers to make a journal. I just love the new papers. The result was the Drop Your Anchor Junk Journal created using the papers, canvas and even printed canvas.
Here is a flip through video of the Drop Your Anchor Junk Journal. Make sure to watch until the end. In the end, I’ll share how you can win some of this wonderful screen printed canvas from Canvas Corp Home Basics.
Items used from Canvas Corp Brands to make the Drop Your Anchor Junk Journal.
- Nautical: Navy and Ivory Anchor Paper
- Ship to Shore: Crabs on Ivory 12×12 Paper, Seahorses on Ivory 12×12 Paper, Whales and Wheels on Ivory 12×12 Paper, Signs on Ivory 12×12 Paper
- Fabric Panel – Tossed Anchors
- Journal Lines
- Natural Canvas 12 x 12 sheet
Since I had limited supplies being in my hotel room almost a thousand miles from home, it was easy to decide on what to use for the journal.
I selected the papers that appealed the most to me. Then decided that I would make a few of the pages canvas and add pieces of the papers to embellish and create journal spots.
What I liked the most about constructing this journal was using canvas as pages. Piecing together what was needed in order to have a pocket or journal card was fun. It made me look at fabric differently for a journal. Don’t be afraid to mix canvas and papers together. Get out that stash of fabric and use it in a junk journal.
By using the canvas and the paper together in this Drop Your Anchor Junk Journal, it gives the journal body and texture. The papers are cardstock weight and each page feels good in my hands.
Step outside your comfort zone and try something new, like sewing pages out of canvas and paper for a junk journal, like I did for the Drop Your Anchor Junk Journal.
