Think Pink Junk Journal

Today I’m sharing a Think Pink Junk Journal that I made to give to a friend. A dear friend of my family has cancer again. She casually mentioned that she would love a pink journal and I decided to use the Calico Collage Think Pink digital journal kit to make a Think Pink Junk Journal just for her.

Since the Think Pink Junk Journal is geared towards being strong while going through cancer I decided to add a few stamps that I thought would encourage my friend.

Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists through my Lace Stencil on every page makes each page sparkle. I love how it looks like lace on each page.

Several pages of the Think Pink Junk Journal feature a calendar at the top. Circle the month and the day of the journal entry.

The page tabs I created using a very old paper punch by McGill. Spraying a piece of scrap cardstock with Tattered Angels Through the lace gave the foundation. Then I used distress inks around the edges. A bit of lace was attached using a sewing machine. The ribbon was about 1 inch long, folded in half and then sewn into place. I love how pretty these look.

I pray that my friend is able to beat cancer again. That this journal gives her a place to write and overcome her fears and celebrate her victories.

Do you have someone that has been affected by cancer in your life? This would make a great gift to see them through.

Day 3 of 30 days of Thankful 2018 and Stamped Card Tutorial

Sharing Day 3 of 30 days of Thankful 2018 and Stamped Card Tutorial. The Day 3 prompt: Something Old that you are thankful for in your life? Today I’m reflecting on all the wonderful tools I’ve collected over the years. I’m thankful that I kept these tools as it makes me happy to be able to use them daily. After writing in my journal I made a small journal card or notecard.

Todays prompt for Day 3 of 30 days of Thankful 2018 and Stamped Card Tutorial caused me to think about my studio and the things I have. Some of these things are over 25 years old. Some even older.

Day 3 of 30 days of Thankful 2018 and Stamped Card Tutorial

When I first started making things and selling the items, I would take the profit and buy a new tool or supply. There were times I would save money for a long time in order to buy a new tool. By doing this over many years I’ve collected a lot of tools. Which I’m grateful that I did so as now I don’t have the funds to buy a lot of tools. But I don’t have to since I have just about everything I would need.

This prompt also caused me to think about those friendships that I’ve had for many years. This week I was able to visit with Beverly of Bline Design Stamps. It was wonderful to sit and chat with her and catch up.

Day 3 of 30 days of Thankful 2018 and Stamped Card Tutorial

When you look at your supplies does it make you remember how you acquired them? Do you have someone that comes up in your memories that you haven’t chatted with in a while? Take a moment and send a note to that person and try to reconnect.

Day 1 of 30 days of Thankful 2018

Here it is Day 1 of 30 days of Thankful 2018 challenge. The first prompt is: Who has helped you that you wish to thank? When I thought about this prompt I decided that I would also make a bookmark to give to the person I would write about. Why not give a little gift to the person that you are so thankful for their help in your life?

The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you. ~John E. Southard

When I sat down and thought about the Day 1 of 30 days of Thankful 2018 prompt I thought about one person that has done so much for me over the years. That person is my mother-in-law. She has been a cheerleader and supporter of me on many endeavors and I’m so grateful for all the support she has given me.

Therefore, I decided that I would make a bookmark that she could use and be reminded that I’m thankful to have her in my life. Why not make a small card, bookmark or tag for the person that you wish to thank.

Day 1 of 30 days of Thankful 2018

Remember, the idea is to thank them, no need to go overboard with the gift. Just let them know how much you care.

Who will you write about in your journal today?

Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial

Today I’m sharing a Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial. One of my Facebook group is having a swap and I decided to join in the fun. Using digital images from Calico Collage, some scissors, and a few other supplies I made bingo cards in under ten minutes. You can make these too.

Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial

Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial Video.

Supplies used in the Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial.

Let’s get started on this Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial. Begin with selecting digital images. Next crop the fussy cut images you want to use and print at a size that will fit your bingo card. In my case, I made the smaller images about 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial

The images were printed on standard copy paper using a laser printer. Use what you have, or you can even send the images to a print shop. Trim the images from the paper.

For the bingo cards, these were printed four to a page and these measured about 4.5 x 3.75 inches. Cut cardstock for the card base slightly larger than the images. Or you can print the images on cardstock and not have to mat the images.

Select an image for the focal point and fussy cut. If this were going to be a pocket in a journal I would either print on cardstock or glue another piece of paper on the back to make it stronger. Since this is a journal card and won’t get as much pulling items in and out I left it at the copy weight paper.

Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial

Add distress inks to the edges of all the papers. Adhere the bingo card to the base with the Best Glue Ever. Layer the fussy cut element in the corner and then sew around the outside of the bingo card, catching the fussy cut element on two sides.

Apply Tulip Dimensional glitter paint to the image to highlight areas that you want to sparkle.

Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial

Place the journal card in the tuck spot and you are done! It took me longer to write this blog post than it did for me to create one of these cards it goes that fast!

Have fun making your own after seeing this Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial. Maybe even join a swap or two. 🙂

This Violet Junk Journal Page Tutorial completes the rainbow for the rainbow junk journal I’m creating. Making these pages stretched my creativity. Trying to find elements that fit each color was sometimes a challenge. Doing these pages helped me try new things.

Being able to use Linda’s Wisdom digital journal kit in this page made my soul soar! I would have never thought that I would have my art in a digital format that could be shared around the world.

Violet Junk Journal Page Tutorial

The next step for the rainbow junk journal will be to create the cover and add the pages. My idea is to make signatures for each color and add a few simple pages for more journal space.

Because of the Violet Junk Journal Page Tutorial and the other tutorials for the rainbow, I hope it inspires you to create. Try new things. Look for cool items to add to your journal. Who would have thought that paint chips would be a pretty element? Couldn’t you see making a journal page that was all about the new baby room and the color pallet was chosen? What about a wedding, showing the theme of colors?

Pink Floral Napkin Tag Tutorial

Today I’m sharing a Pink Floral Napkin Tag Tutorial. The tag was made for a swap with one of my friends. She loves pink and I think this tag had the perfect amount of pink for her. This project is the first of what I hope to be many projects to cause you to be a #motivatedcreator. Be inspired to create because of the things I show you, try new things.

Pink Floral Napkin Tag Tutorial Video

Supplies used in the Pink Floral Napkin Tag Tutorial.

Let’s begin the Pink Floral Napkin Tag Tutorial. Select the corner image from Her Allure, trim and add distress ink to the edges. Apply Tulip Dimensional Glitter paint on the flowers of the corner and allow to dry.

Use a pretty napkin and a 4 x 6 tag base. Apply glue stick to the tag base and then using the top layer of the napkin adhere the napkin.

Spray Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists on the tag base and corner pocket. Let the spray dry or use a heat tool.

Trim the corners of the 4 x 6 to create a tag shape. Sew around the edges of the tag shape. Apply distress ink around the edges.

Using hot glue attach the pom pom trim to the bottom of the tag. Adhere the corner pocket on the tag base over the trim.

Create a half rosette using pink lace and a stapler, adhere to the corner using hot glue. Adhere the pink lace scrap and chiffon rose on top of the lace bit.

Apply dots of the Best Glue Ever on the chiffon rose, lace embellishment in three spots, then place flat back rhinestones on top.

Punch a hole at the top of the tag and tie lace through the hole. Could staple or sew if you like that look.

Add a journal card to the pocket and enjoy. Hope you found this Pink Floral Napkin Tag Tutorial easy and you are a #motivatedcreator because of seeing this today. Head over to my Facebook page LindaIsrael and share your creations in the event to be entered into a drawing for a prize.

Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial

Fall is so beautiful, don’t you agree? Today I’m sharing a Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial. This project was hosted by Bea Grob and four artists in total participated as this is an international swap. Using Tattered Angels Products and more I show how I created my postcards and then show how I decorated all the postcards.

Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial

Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial Video

Supplies used in the Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial

Let’s get this Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial started. Begin by selecting a large piece of watercolor paper. This will be a master board style project. The idea is that you decorate a large sheet of paper, then cut it up for the project.

Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial

Next using stencils, Tattered Angels Mists and more start adding color to the watercolor master board. Dry with a heat tool or allow to dry naturally. It is a good idea to let each layer dry before applying more mediums.

Collage bits of mixed media papers on top of the misted paper. Adhere the bits randomly. Make sure to spread out the pieces on the whole master board so it will have bits when it is cut up.

Apply paint to blend the background to the pasted pieces. Add one color at a time and make sure to dry before applying another color so you don’t end up with mud.

Cut up the master board int 4 x 6 pieces to be made into postcards. Save the other bits for other projects, like small tags or journal cards.

Loved making the backgrounds. Now let’s dive into decorating all the postcards for this Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial.

Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial

Since this is a Fall project I decided to take a walk around outside and pick up a few fallen leaves. After doing a google search on how to dry leaves I knew I could use these in this project today.

Fall Mixed Media Collaboration Postcard Tutorial

Select leaves that are not super dry and brittle. Follow instructions on how to dry leaves. Once the leaves are dry apply Glam to seal the leaves. I decided to use a glam that had lots of glitter in it so the leaves shimmer.

Adhere the leaves using the Best Glue Ever by ScraPerfect. Apply a small amount to the backside of the leave and let it air dry for a couple of minutes. Then place the leaf on the postcard. Add something heavy on top to push it into the postcard. Set aside to dry.

Create a sentiment using a rubber stamp on kraft cardstock. Apply distress inks to the edges of the sentiment. Use 3D foam squares on the back of the sentiment and then adhere to the postcard.

Select a few buttons and sequins and using the Best Glue Ever, adhere to the postcard. Tie a small bow using tiny jute or cord and adhere with the Best Glue Ever.

Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial

Lots of fun to share today with a Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial and more. This was one of those super fun projects. The video shows how I took all the items and made a flowish paper bag journal. Then I share how to turn those paper bags into a mixed media journal. Lots of yummy things to see in this project.

This is a super fun project. Let’s get started on the Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial. Begin by selecting paper bags, acrylic paint, stamps, and mixed media papers.

Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial

Have fun applying the mixed media papers to the bags. Don’t think about where you are placing the bits of papers, just have fun adding color here and there. Flip each bag over and add papers to the other side too.

Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial

Once the papers have adhered to the bags start applying one color of paint here and there. Be random, don’t think about where you are adding color. Doing one layer at a time will give it time to dry and your colors won’t get muddy.

Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial

Add Tattered Angels Mists to the bags to add another layer of color.

Break out those stamps and add more interest to the bags. In this step, you will want to think about the direction of the bags and your stamps if they are directional images.

Adhere Calico Collage images and handmade embellishments to the bag. Decorating the bags with all the bits and pieces is a lot of fun!
