Last month I went on a cruise and I made a Personal Mermaid Junk Journal. In this Personal Mermaid Junk Journal, I used images from Calico Collage, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and things from my stash.
To help new junk journal creators I made a video on How to make a Personal Mermaid Junk Journal.
My method is pretty straightforward. Using a basket I collect the items I want to use for the junk journal. In this case, I collected sea themed items, like stickers, scrapbook paper, digital images, stamps and more.
The next decision is to figure out what size I want the journal. Since I was using Calico Collage digital images from two different kits, A Mermaid Tale and Enchanted I deiced to use those to determine the size of my journal.
Once the size has been determined, cut the pages to the desired size. Next, add some color with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. I love to use stencils with the mists for added texture.
Since this was going to be my Personal Mermaid Junk Journal that I would use while on a cruise I decided that I didn’t want bulky embellishments to get in the way of writing. This journal stayed very simple.
The cover was cardstock that I used a stencil and then sewed the Calico Collage image from A Mermaid Tale on top. While looking around in my stash I found a pretty Prima Pearl embellishment that I knew would be perfect for the cover.
The mermaid charm that was attached to this Personal Mermaid Junk Journal I found at Hobby Lobby on clearance. (I didn’t remember for sure in the video, but went shopping again and found more at Hobby Lobby). Isn’t she cute on the journal?
Make sure to check out the Friendly Junk Journal People Facebook group. Of course, you are welcome to join the Friendly Junk Journal People Facebook group. The group is growing daily and we are a friendly group willing to help each other and encourage each other.
Here is my shop, I have a lot of items uploaded and add more weekly.
My hope is that I have inspired you to look at those papers in your stash and make your own junk journal.
