Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial

Today I’m sharing a Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial. One of my Facebook group is having a swap and I decided to join in the fun. Using digital images from Calico Collage, some scissors, and a few other supplies I made bingo cards in under ten minutes. You can make these too.

Supplies used in the Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial.

Let’s get started on this Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial. Begin with selecting digital images. Next crop the fussy cut images you want to use and print at a size that will fit your bingo card. In my case, I made the smaller images about 2.5 x 3.5 inches.

Fussy Cut Bingo Swap Card Tutorial

The images were printed on standard copy paper using a laser printer. Use what you have, or you can even send the images to a print shop. Trim the images from the paper.

For the bingo cards, these were printed four to a page and these measured about 4.5 x 3.75 inches. Cut cardstock for the card base slightly larger than the images. Or you can print the images on cardstock and not have to mat the images.

Select an image for the focal point and fussy cut. If this were going to be a pocket in a journal I would either print on cardstock or glue another piece of paper on the back to make it stronger. Since this is a journal card and won’t get as much pulling items in and out I left it at the copy weight paper.

Add distress inks to the edges of all the papers. Adhere the bingo card to the base with the Best Glue Ever. Layer the fussy cut element in the corner and then sew around the outside of the bingo card, catching the fussy cut element on two sides.

Apply Tulip Dimensional glitter paint to the image to highlight areas that you want to sparkle.

Place the journal card in the tuck spot and you are done! It took me longer to write this blog post than it did for me to create one of these cards it goes that fast!

Violet Junk Journal Page Tutorial

Here it is the last color of the rainbow junk journal pages. Today I’m sharing the Violet Junk Journal Page Tutorial using digital images from Linda’s Wisdom digital journal kit that features art I created that Calico Collage turned into a digital kit.

This Violet Junk Journal Page Tutorial completes the rainbow for the rainbow junk journal I’m creating. Making these pages stretched my creativity. Trying to find elements that fit each color was sometimes a challenge. Doing these pages helped me try new things.

Being able to use Linda’s Wisdom digital journal kit in this page made my soul soar! I would have never thought that I would have my art in a digital format that could be shared around the world.

Violet Junk Journal Page Tutorial

The next step for the rainbow junk journal will be to create the cover and add the pages. My idea is to make signatures for each color and add a few simple pages for more journal space.

Because of the Violet Junk Journal Page Tutorial and the other tutorials for the rainbow, I hope it inspires you to create. Try new things. Look for cool items to add to your journal. Who would have thought that paint chips would be a pretty element? Couldn’t you see making a journal page that was all about the new baby room and the color pallet was chosen? What about a wedding, showing the theme of colors?

Colorful Mixed Media Junk Journal

Today I’m sharing the Colorful Mixed Media Junk Journal that was made in the Youtube Live Event on Monday, October 1, 2018. In the live video, I show how I made the mixed media pages and added these to junk that a friend gave me to make a journal. Used Calico Collage digital journal kit Charming Forest, stamps, Tattered Angels Mists, Stencils and more.

A few of the items used in the making of the Colorful Mixed Media Junk Journal

The Colorful Mixed Media Junk Journal, measures 4.25 by 9.5 inches with 16 pages. Lots of color inside this journal with the mixed media pages. This journal can be found in my shop.

Looking at this journal makes me so happy. Love petting the pages and feeling the texture from the paints and papers on each page.

Colorful Mixed Media Junk Journal

Being able to give a new life to items that would normally be thrown away is fun to me. Do you collect items when you go on trips? What do you think you will look for next time you are on a road trip? I like to pick up maps and brochures that have pretty images.

Colorful Mixed Media Junk Journal

Since there was a natural pocket with the front and back covers I decided to add a journal insert. That way you can write notes, memories, and whatnot and then slip it back into the cover pockets.

Colorful Mixed Media Junk JournalColorful Mixed Media Junk Journal

Wouldn’t this be a great gift journal for a friend? You could give it to them like it is, or you could write notes about what you love about them, share special memories with them that they can enjoy.

Get out those paints, stencils, and stamps and have fun making your own Colorful Mixed Media Junk Journal. Add digital images here and there, don’t have to have one for each page for the journal to be beautiful.

Mermaid Loaded Mini Bag

Sharing a Mermaid Loaded Mini Bag for a Swap. One of the groups on Facebook had a One day swap. The idea was we would all speak up if we wanted to do a loaded mini bag swap and that same day we would be given our partner. After chatting with my partner and learning what she liked I decided to make a Mermaid themed loaded mini bag. Here is the result.

Mermaid Loaded Mini Bag

Mermaid Loaded Mini Bag for a Swap Video.

Supplies used for the Mermaid Loaded Mini Bag.

This Mermaid Loaded Mini Bag was a great way for me to use up items in my stash. The instructions said to use a 6 x 6 piece of scrapbook paper and a mini bag. The bag I had was not small but not giant either. So I decided to make it in my own style.

Mermaid Loaded Mini BagThe bag was mounted to a piece of cardstock and then I started adding scrapbook papers I had in my stash to give it a great ocean theme.

Mermaid Loaded Mini BagAdding stamping to premade cards makes this project fast. I also found a few blank journal cards to give a new look. Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists – Curious was added here and there to give that ocean feel.

Mermaid Loaded Mini BagMy Mermaid stash bag had lots of left over bits from other projects. Keeping all the items in a ziplock or pocket helps with creating a project like this one.

Mermaid Loaded Mini BagThe Mermaid Loaded Mini Bag really looked great when I was done. There are lots of goodies to be used in other projects.

Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip Through

Sharing an Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip Through today. On Sept 17th during the YouTube Live stream, I showed how to add elastic to make a Midori style junk journal or travelers notebook. During the video, I also showed how to bind one of the inserts as well as created a journal card. The Journal is now complete and I’m sharing the contents.

Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip Through

The Apple Spice Junk Journal measures 8.25 x 6 inch Junk Journal with a total of 36 pages. Three journal inserts that can be removed from the cover. This journal will hold four inserts. The journal is for sale and listed in my store.

This Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip Through was a fun to make. Using scraps of canvas, burlap, and papers for the cover from my stash is helping me to reduce the stash!

Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip ThroughRecently I picked up some of those bulb pins and I’m loving being able to attach items to my journal like this little journal charm. Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip ThroughThe cover has pockets so you can add extra cards or other items you want to keep. A pen can be added as well so you always have one handy.

Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip Through

The first insert in this Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip Through is a one month planner. The first page flips out and you can write all kinds of notes on the back or in the boxes on the front.

Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip ThroughUsing mixed media pages I created for another project to make a pocket page is a great way to have more space to save items.

Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip Through One of my favorite things is adding Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mists to journal pages. The colors match perfectly with the digital journal kit from Calico Collage.

The planner pages are so fun. Having a week all on one page is a great way to list items and keep track of what needs to be done. The other pages are fun to write special notes or even attach photos.

Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip Through Apple Spice Junk Journal Flip ThroughUsing different colors of cardstock for the insert covers adds a little flair. This 7gypsies flocked paper is fun, love the way it feels.

Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial

Lots of fun to share today with a Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial and more. This was one of those super fun projects. This is a super fun project. Let’s get started on the Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial. Begin by selecting paper bags, acrylic paint, stamps, and mixed media papers.

Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial

Have fun applying the mixed media papers to the bags. Don’t think about where you are placing the bits of papers, just have fun adding color here and there. Flip each bag over and add papers to the other side too.

Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial

Once the papers have adhered to the bags start applying one color of paint here and there. Be random, don’t think about where you are adding color. Doing one layer at a time will give it time to dry and your colors won’t get muddy.

Add Tattered Angels Mists to the bags to add another layer of color.

Mixed Media Halloween Paper Bag Junk Journal Tutorial

Break out those stamps and add more interest to the bags. In this step, you will want to think about the direction of the bags and your stamps if they are directional images.

Adhere Calico Collage images and handmade embellishments to the bag. Decorating the bags with all the bits and pieces is a lot of fun!

Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial

Welcome, everyone. Today I’m sharing a Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial using Calico Collage digital images, old book page, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and items I cut using my Cricut. This Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial was made for a swap. Hope they like what I made.

Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial

Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial Video.

Supplies used for the Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial.

Let’s begin the Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial Video. Select a piece of 4 x 6 ivory cardstock and cut the corners off to give it a tag shape. Select a page out of a book I used a bible and cut it to 3.75 x 5.75 inches and trim the top two corners to create a tag shape.

Select an image from the Calico Collage Digital sheet and enlarge to 2.5 inches. Print on cardstock or print on copy weight paper and then back with cardstock. The Silhouette is a great tool to help with cutting images out, especially if cutting a lot of images. Using the Silhouette Software I duplicated the image and then flipped on so there were two views of the same image.

Apply Distress Ink to the edges of the tag and book page. Then apply distress ink to the edges of the round image and words.

Spray Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists through a stencil on the book page. Allow the page to dry. Adhere the book page to the tag base using ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever and the No-Clog Writing Cap.

Cut a honeycomb using Cricut at 4 x 6 inches. I created the honeycomb by using a hexagon, duplicating, then welding to create the honeycomb. Save your work when you create a new element in Cricut, saves a lot of time! Adhere the honeycomb to the tag base, cut the corners to match.

Apply a small amount of glue to the back of the 3.5 x 3.5 brown fabric and adhere in the center of the tag base. Adhere the lace on the left side of the square.

Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial

Sew zig-zag stitches around the tag base and the Calico Collage image in the center.

Apply words using the Best Glue Ever. Punch a hole at the top of the tag and pull a strip of fabric through and tie a knot.

Last, apply Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint using the Medium No-Clog Writing cap to the Calico Collage image.

This was a fun Vintage Bee Tag Tutorial, I hope that you enjoyed it and are inspired to create!

Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial

Love making these altered envelopes. Today I’m sharing Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Calico Collage digital images, stamps and more. Bonus journal card tutorial too!

Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial

Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial Video.

Supplies used for the Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial.

This is a super easy Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial. Bonus journal card tutorial too. Spray a 2.5 x 3.5-inch ivory card with Safety Orange Tattered Angels. Splatter with Almost Black. Allow the spray to dry. Stamp houses along the bottom, don’t make them straight, have fun. Select a sentiment stamp, ink and stamp in the upper left corner of the card. On a gold sheet of cardstock, stamp a witch that looks like she is flying over the moon. Fussy cut and mat with a black circle.

Apply Distress ink around the edges of the journal card. Black Soot and Walnut Stain help make the card look grungy.

Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial

On the back side of the witch image, adhere a small tuft of tulle and then adhere this element on the right side of the journal card.

Grab an envelope, think a return envelope from your junk mail. That hasn’t been used, that still has the closure flap. Trim down the envelope by cutting off each end. I this case I cut off 2 inches from each side to mak5-inch wide envelope.

Select one of the end pieces and open up the envelope, next spray with Almost Black Tattered Angels. Flip the envelope over and spray the inside with Safety Orange Tattered Angels. Apply Distress ink, Black Soot on all the edges.

Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial

Adhere the cut piece of the envelope over the return address. With the open side up to create a pocket.

Create Domino Sized witch element by layering the witch image over purple and black cardstock, create two of these. Adhere green trim behind witch on the left side of the pocket. Save the other image.

Stamp Boo to You or another sentiment on Ivory cardstock, splatter with Safety Orange and Almost Black Tattered Angels. Use a ruler and a black marker to give a border to the sentiment.  Apply distress ink around the edges. Adhere the sentiment on the pocket.

Fold envelope shut. Use the remaining image to create a closure for the envelope. Apply glue on the bottom half and position the top half over the flap, making sure not to glue the envelope shut.

Boo to You Halloween Altered Envelope Tutorial

Add journal card to the pocket once the glue has dried. Enjoy your work!

This is a very easy Large Halloween Journal Card Tutorial. Begin by cutting the card base, 5.75 b 11.5 inches. This will fit inside a 6 x 12 paper sack opening. Next, select a book page that measures about 6 x 9 inches.

Use a Stencil and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists on the book page. Experiment with different colors and stencils to get the look you like the best. Dry with a heat tool or allow drying. Trim the book page to 5.5 inches square and save the extra bit and cut down to 5.75 – this will become a pocket later.

Halloween Skull Mini Junk Journal Tutorial

Making mini journals is quick easy and fun. Check out this Halloween Skull Mini Junk Journal Tutorial to make your own mini journal. Using an image from Calico Collage’s Hallowed Gothic digital journal kit, cardstock and mop up pages I share how to make a mini journal.

Halloween Skull Mini Junk Journal Tutorial

Halloween Skull Mini Junk Journal Tutorial Video

Supplies used for the Halloween Skull Mini Junk Journal Tutorial.

To begin this Halloween Skull Mini Junk Journal Tutorial Print the Skull image from the digital journal kit. In Windows 10 right click on the image inside File Explorer. Choose print. Inside the print window, choose 3.5 x 5 inch and uncheck Fit Picture to frame. Select the number of copies, one will print one image at 3.5 x 5.

Halloween Skull Mini Junk Journal Tutorial

Trim the image removing the white around the edges. Cut a piece of black cardstock about 1/4 of an inch larger than the image.

Adhere image to cardstock. Fold the cover in half.

Using the book cover as a guide cut mop up pages to be 1/4 of an inch smaller than the cover. The journal made in the tutorial has 4 sheets of paper folded in half. If there is a page long enough make a flip out.

Fold the pages in half. Stack to make a signature and place inside the cover. Hold in place with paper clips or binder clips. Using a ruler determine the center point and use the craft pick to punch three holes. One in the center and the other two about half an inch from the edges in the crease of the book spine through all the pages.

Halloween Skull Mini Junk Journal Tutorial

Thread the bookbinders needle with waxed linen thread that is three times the height of the journal cover. Start inside on the center hole and push the needle to the outside. Hold on to the tail of the thread. Push the needle through the top hole from the outside and go inside the journal. Holding the tail of the thread that is on the inside up toward the top of the journal. Doing this will help keep the thread out of the way.

Push the needle through the center hole again and go to the outside. From the outside center go to the bottom hole and push to the inside. Slip the needle under the top thread and pull down. Make sure that the threads on the outside and inside are tight and tie a square knot. Cut off excess threads. Optional, add punched paper shapes to the ends of the string or leave plain.
