It was a lot of fun creating this Unicorn Magic Midori Style Junk Journal for the young lady. Unicorns are so fun and using the digital kit by Calico Collage makes creating a journal so easy. The journal kit is designed to create a 5 x 7 inch journal. But for this journal I cropped the images and then told my printer to print as a full page 8.5 x 11 inches. It did cut off some of the image, but I don’t think it was enough to make a difference.
A super fun shaker card is found inside the front cover pocket. The card can be placed over a page or taken out of the journal. There is a lot of journal space inside the Unicorn Magic Midori Style Junk Journal. Three journal inserts that each have 40 pages.
Scrapbook paper is great to make pocket pages. The new Unicorn and Stars Stencil is featured on the page on the right. A combination of scrapbook paper, washi tape, rubber stamps and digital images help the page on the right come together. The journal pages are so pretty, my hope is that it will encourage the young lady to write.
Making this journal was so much fun. I got to use up some papers from my stash and pull out some stamps I’ve had for a while.
Stamping directly on the page and then layering on top gives the pages dimension and character. Having the HP Instant Ink program saves a lot of money for printing these pages. The images are printed on 24 pound Premium Xerox paper for the journal pages and Royal Sundance Bright White Linen 80 pound paper was used for the covers and elements.
A piece of mixed media painted papers makes a pocket on the right side.
The cover measures 6 inches wide by 9 inches tall with a 2.25 inch spine. Elastic holds the journal inserts inside and make it easy to remove a journal for writing.
If you could have your choice of images for a junk journal what would you use? I love using lots of color, so if it has beautiful images with lots of color, that’s for me! lol
