Starting out by choosing three same size envelopes. Find a book page and add some color, Linda chose to paint hers with Tattered Angels Deep Purple Vibe. Decorate your 3 envelopes, think about using a stencil, Linda chose to use a stencil from her September stencil Club and Dusty Concord Distress Oxide applying with an oval blending brush.
Attaching the three envelopes together by adding scraps of distressed pieces of scrap paper. Don’t worry about the gaps because they will be covered over as you create, this is a great way to use up those small scrap pieces.
You could use your rubber stamps to further decorate your envelopes. Linda used the Flowering Branch, and the Dandelion rubber stamps. To add strength to the gaps take some fabric pieces and adhere with Tacky Glue.
Add pockets to your envelopes, Linda used Digital Inspirational Flowers Journal and Mixed Media Flower Journal Cards. She then used a book page trimmed to fit the journal card and stamped with Textured Edges rubber stamp. You can sew your pocket edges or use the shabby stitches rubber stamps from her shop they give your pieces a stitched look. Place the pockets down applying tacky glue, don’t forget to further decorate the inside by either adding more scraps and sentiment stamps like Soul Deep, Live Each Moment and Gather your dreams. Consider adding a decorative piece to the flap of the envelopes, like the Spring Butterflies Ephemera from Calico Collage.
As a closure choose a paperclip and tie a piece of fabric. You can also use the altered paperclip to attach it to the inside of your journal.
What a great gift idea for friends and family! How will you decorate your envelopes?
