One of my friends contacted me and asked if I would make a Mermaid Travelers Notebook Junk Journal for her. I told her yes I would! Looking through Calico Collage I found the Enchanted Journal Kit that had a few Mermaids and then I did a search on the internet for a couple more images I could use.
For the cover, I used the Mermaid image from the Calico Collage Enchanted digital journal kit. This was layered on top of a pretty mermaid cardstock. Then I used some Tulip dimensional glitter paint and added sparkle to her. The sea horse is from a stamp set out of the Creative Stamping Magazine from the UK, The Sea View Collection by Sheena Douglass. These images stamp beautifully.
It was fun to create some journal bling or a journal charm to go with this theme. Digging around in my jewelry making stash I found a few items to use. Visiting the local craft stores I found a letter C to add to the journal charm that I decided to make into a bracelet. She can leave it on the journal or take it off and wear the bracelet if she chooses.
This Mermaid Travelers Notebook Junk Journal measures 8.25 tall by 4.25 when closed and has 18 sheets of paper for a total of 72 pages to use.
Here is a flip through video of the Mermaid Travelers Notebook Junk Journal.
Since she said, Mermaids, shells and the ocean I went to work collecting things to make the journal. Using a couple of stamp sets that had a Mermaid Images was fun to create little journal cards.
While out shopping at the Dollar Tree I found these really cool sea themed stickers. I love how they shift to another image when you tilt them.
Love adding coloring book pages and found a few that fit the theme for this Mermaid Travelers Notebook Junk Journal.
This time around I decided to add some fold out or flip out pages. I wanted this Mermaid Travelers Notebook Junk Journal to be pretty and useful for her.
Another technique I tried was using small jute to tie items into the journal. I think it gives that sea feel to the elements. I also like using cheese cloth that was sprayed with Tattered Angles Glimmer mists. It reminds me of nets.
Most of the pages have been sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. Several of the pages were stamped with a starfish and Tim Holtz Distressed Ink.
This Mermaid Travelers Notebook Junk Journal is full of lots of tuck spots and pockets. It was fun looking around for elements to add to this journal.
