How to alter a metal tin

While out shopping at Dollar Tree I found a set of two metal tins. When I saw these I knew I could alter these with a few supplies I already had on hand.

Supplies used in How to alter a metal tin:
Glossy Sapphire Rinea foil
Spellbinders Circle Die
Butterfly Die
Calico Collage Spring Peacock Journal Kit
Calico Collage Spring Peacock Domino images
Metal Tins – Dollar Tree

Self-adhesive Rhinestones

Paint brush

How to alter a metal tin

I began but selecting a page from the Spring Peacock journal kit from Calico Collage. Once I had a page selected I used my Vagabond and Spellbinders circle die to cut out circles.

Selected images from the Spring Peacock Domino digital images from Calico Collage, trimmed off the white edges.

Die cut a beautiful butterfly out of the Blue Rinea foil using my Vagabond.

Using Glam from Tattered Angels I painted the back of the circle and placed it on the top of the metal tin. Applied glam to the domino-sized peacock image and added to the top of the circle.

So that the butterfly wouldn’t lift and get damaged I applied glam to the back and then placed it on the top of the other images.

Glam dries pretty quick. Using the Chandelier Glam from Tattered Angels I then coated the top of the tin.

Lastly, I applied a few self-adhesive rhinestones to the butterfly and off to one side.

I just love how the images sparkle because of the Chandelier Glam from Tattered Angels. These altered metal tins will make a great gift. I’m thinking of adding some candy and maybe a piece of jewelry inside.
