Needing a greeting card to send to a friend I decided to make one and share How to Mask , Unicorn Greeting Card. This card will also be entered into a couple of challenges I found online.
Recently while out shopping I found the Hampton Art Mama Elephant Clear Stamp & Die Set-Over the Rainbow Which features Unipegs, Or Flying Unicorns. This set was so cute that I couldn’t pass it up!
Knowing that I wanted to keep this card simple and cute I decided to go with simple stamping and masking. The concept of masking is to stamp the image on a text weight piece of paper and place that over the image you want to be in the front.
To make a mask I do the following, I stamp the image on text weight paper, or a sticky note. I cut out the image and then on the backside I use Zig Two Way Glue. Let the glue air dry for a minute. This then turns the paper into a temporary sticky mask that will stay in place. Repeat these steps for all of the stamps that you want to mask on your project.
Once all of the masks are created it is time to create the card. Begin with loading the MISTI with the UniPeg, Rainbow Clouds and Hello Stamps. Ink with Brutus Monroe Detail ink – Raven, then stamp on white cardstock that has been cut at 4.20 in. x 5.45 in.
Place the masks for the Unipeg and Rainbow Clouds over the images. Stamp DOTS Stiched Clouds over the Unipeg and Rainbow Clouds. Place masks over the clouds.
Using the Ranger Blending tool and the Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Stormy Sky and Tumbled Glass blend on the card a background to represent sky and clouds.
Remove the masks when the background has been completed to satisfaction.
Color the Unipeg, clouds and Rainbow with Chameleon Pens.
Spray entire card with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Pearl.
Highlight images with Tulip Dimensional Glitter glue. I even go around Hello to help it stand out as well.
