Since Valentines is just around the corner and I joined the Valentine Junk Journal Page swap inside the Friendly Junk Journal People Facebook group I thought I should get one made. It was easy to turn this into a video tutorial showing how to transform junk mail into a journal page, using craft paint and images from Calico Collage. I even used a body butter box for a couple of tags.

Video Tutorial for the Valentine Junk Journal Page.
It is possible to alter a piece of junk mail for a junk journal. Lots of people say that it is hard to make something pretty. But if you get some acrylic craft paint you can do beautiful things.
Using an old credit card or gift card is a great way to spread paint onto paper. It goes on in thin layers that dry fast. Once all the layers are dry it is easy to write on top of the paint.
While for this project I used digital images it is possible to find pretty images in things you may already have. Take a look at that empty tissue box, chances are there is a pretty pattern that can be used. Flip through old magazines and look for flowers and other images you can use. Those old greeting cards you saved for years are also great items to use for something pretty.
Really the key is to enjoy the process and have fun looking for items you can use. Like the empty Victoria’s Secret Body Butter Box. The box is a pretty shade of pink and had the word Love so I had to use it as a journal tag.
I’m looking forward to swapping with the assigned partner. It is so much fun to see what others make. Getting a junk journal page in a swap helps me learn new things or come up with new ideas.
Keeping following along to see more of the elements used in the Fairy Garden Junk Journal I’ve made.
