There are times when I love to really add lots of embellishments to pages. Today was one of those days to add lace and pretty trims. I love how it changes the whole look of the pages, don’t you?

What you will need for this project. How to sew lace trim on Junk Journal Pages
Pages – Calico Collage Golden Christmas, I have mine stamped and sprayed, ready to add trim
Trim – I have a variety of lace and eyelash trim that I used for my pages.
Sewing machine – Mine is old but works great.
Needles I use Organ Flat Shank Size 80/12, Use what is recommended by your sewing machine.
Fiskars Scissors – to trim the thread

I’ve been sewing for a very long time. One of the questions I get all of the time, will sewing on paper hurt my machine? No, it won’t. It isn’t much different than sewing on fabric. Personally, I think that sewing on paper is less messy.

Make sure to keep your machine maintained. Check your owners manual on how to clean and oil your machine, or take to a local repair shop for service.

When done sewing on paper, you may want to change the needle if going to sew on fabric as the needle might be dull. Otherwise if not going back and forth, I keep the same needle until it breaks or bends. 😉

There are all kinds of lace and trims out there. Sometimes these can be found at thrift stores or specialty shops. I’ve had some given to me in the past too.

When sewing on paper, I’ve found that if I leave the lace trim long it is much easier to control. I don’t glue the lace down I hold it with my hands. Having a piece of trim longer than your page makes it easy to control.
