I’m finally home for a little while from doing a couple of trips and two workshops one in Jan and the other in Feb. I decided to make an Inspire Dragonfly Junk Journal, well actually three from the leftover supplies from my last workshop in Baton Rouge LA. I had a great time with the ladies that attended.

It was a great workshop too as all three ladies hadn’t done the style of a journal we made. Two had never made a junk journal at all. So it was a lot of fun to show them how to put it together and all three went home with a completed journal.

Since Norella the owner and designer of Calico Collage were attending I asked her what her favorite kit would be to make. She said she liked the Dragonfly Delight Kit. So that is what I prepared for the workshop. By printing, cutting, adding embellishments and creating kits.

When I have a workshop I try to have a couple extra kits just in case someone comes that we didn’t expect. Or if I want to make part of the journal in the workshop. This time I had enough for three journals.

Here is a flip through video of the Inspire Dragonfly Junk Journal. I also show the covers other two, but not a flip through of all three. If interested in purchasing one check out my shop.

Since I stay super busy I decided I would make all three pretty much the same as the workshop but I would make it a soft cover. Making a three signature 15 and up page journal takes a lot more time to construct than a single signature with a soft or cardstock cover.

The purple cardstock I used for the cover was given to me. A friends mother moved out of her home and took all that would fit in her two bedroom apartment. When I got to the house there was still at least a full room of supplies that were going in a dumpster. So I took what I thought I could use. This was paper left over from making wedding invitations I think.

If you didn’t already know I love using Tulip Dimensional Glitter Fabric paint. This paint leaves beautiful sparkle on projects. I also like cost, being under $5.00. It does take a little bit longer to dry, but it is so worth waiting.

For a few months now I have been using the domino images as embellishments. I really like the Dragonfly Delight Domino images. These have a lot of color and beautiful images. These just so happened to fit a punch I picked up and I was also able to create a cut file in my Silhouette Cameo 3 to mat the dominos.

I’ve also been using some of the one-inch circles and used the Dragonfly Delight 1 inch circles in this Inspire Dragonfly Junk Journal.

This time I wanted to have lots of color in the Inspire Dragonfly Junk Journal. I didn’t want to stay with just teal or pink. But instead, I wanted to use as many colors as I could.

Glitter cardstock was found to match the colors of the Inspire Dragonfly Junk Journal. The glitter makes me smile when I see it in the elements. First I used my Cricut Explore Air to cut little dragonfly boarders. Then with what was left I used a paper punch and made dragonflies. Then I used a Tim Holtz heart paper punch to get as many as possible out of what was left. LOL I really did use it all.
