Recently inside Friendly Junk Journal People, I was asked, how do I use postage stamps? That prompted me to share the following Postage Stamp Embellishment Tutorial. In the video, I show how I use postage stamps as focal points on a mini paper bag and journal card. I also show a few other examples and ideas where Postage Stamps can be used.

What I really love about a project like this is you can make it any way you like. Each one can be unique or you can make sets. Since we are using old items it’s okay if they don’t all match.

Save those leftover bits of paper and use shape punches to get more bang out of that stash. I found that If I will go ahead and pull a few paper punches out and just try to get the largest shapes first, then go to a smaller punch until there is nothing left. Doing this when you cut a sheet of paper for a project, or if you have a Circut or Silhouette you might use those leftover papers when the shapes are cut.

I had a lot of fun making the example in the video. Before I started the video I made a couple other sets. This can get addictive making these up.

The pinks in these just make me so happy. Party Pink was sprayed along with a small amount of Fully Purple Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists through my Butterfly Stencil. The 4 x 6 inch watercolor card looks so pretty as the sprays bloomed on the paper.

The second set is a little more traditional vintage look. Used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Kraft and Walnut Gold on these elements. Also used the same Butterfly Stencil as before, it seems to work in lots of situations.

When I created the Vintage looking set I remembered that I had some tiny postcards and a passport stamped images. I had even already fussy cut these out. Score for being a quick project.

Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distressed Ink was used with a script background stamp. It just adds another vintage touch to the mini bag.
