If you have been following me you have seen that I’ve been making a journal every day. Today is a Journal for Junk Journal July 2017 to keep a record of all the journals I made. Check out the #junkjournaljuly on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook to see the journals that didn’t make it on the blog.
For this journal, I decided that I would use things I had on hand and alter these for my needs. I started with lots of papers that were standard letter size – 8.5 inches by 11 inches. Many of these papers were used for other things, like agendas, newsletters, and forms. My thoughts were to paint over the text so that it was obscured.
Using a technique that Shannon Green loves I proceeded to paint the papers. Four colors of craft paint, the cheap kind were poured on a pallet. Teal, Blue, Purple, and Pink. Using an old gift card I spread the paint over the papers in a random fashion. Some of the papers had Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists on them so they didn’t require any paint.

Once I had fifteen sheets of paper painted and dried I was ready to add elements. For this journal, I decided that I would be consistent so that I could use a page or two for each day about the journals I made.
Using some old book pages I added pockets and extra journaling space. I also used Washi tape and some note paper. I love using my sewing machine to add interest and texture.
For the cover, I painted cardstock that wasn’t my favorite paper, but I thought it would be good for what I was doing today. I used my Cricut to cut the words and numbers. Mats were made for each word and the numbers using scraps of paper. Some of the papers were embossed, left over from making a few greeting cards.
Layering pages from an old bible, fabric and a piece of lace I started to create my cover collage.
Once all the pieces were glued into place I used my sewing machine to add stitches. This will help the elements stay in place.
On the inside, I used cardstock mulberry paper. I love the texture it brings to my Journal for Junk Journal July 2017. There was a scrap from the cover and I used it to make pockets.

There are three signatures of five sheets of paper for a total of 60 pages to use. The journal measures 9.25 inches tall by 6 inches wide.
This Journal for Junk Journal July 2017 will be a way for me to record each journal I made in July. I plan to print photos of each journal, paste these in the book and add notes about each one.
My thought was this would be a great way to keep a record but it was also a way for me to show how to use a Junk Journal to journal. 😉 So make sure you follow me to see how the journaling portion goes inside this journal.
