Sharing a Snippet Roll Tutorial today. Currently, I’m working on the Tea Soiree Digital Journal Kit from Calico Collage. I’ve been making elements for the Tea Soiree junk journal and I decided to make a snippet roll that will be used with the Tea Soiree journal kit. Using Calico Collage images printed on muslin and lots of scraps of fabric I share how to make a version of a Snippet Roll.

Supplies used for the Snippet Roll Tutorial.

To begin this Snippet Roll Tutorial I first grabbed a bunch of scraps. There was a strip of fabric that was 1.5 inches wide and about 45 inches long ready to be used.

Next, I sewed the scraps of fabric onto the strip. Each one was placed at an angle to add interest to the roll. Sewed the lace on top of the scraps. Love how the lace looks.

The lace and fabric are sewn to the strip. Then I printed images using my Silhouette Software and Calico Collage images on bleached muslin. Using freezer paper and the muslin, iron the freezer paper shiny side to the muslin. Then cut the freezer/muslin 8.5 x 11 in size. Make sure there are no strings hanging off the piece. Next setup your inkjet printer with the new “paper” and print your images. These images won’t be washable. There are products to make these washable on the market.

Cut out the images and sew to the strip. I used a zig-zag stitch and placed each image at an angle.

Hearts were hand-cut from the scraps of fabric. Each heart has a snippet of eyelash yarn.

Each heart has a word sewn on top. Then using ScraPerfects No Clog Writing Cap on Tulip Dimensional paint, I added touches of glitter on the images and hearts.

I’m totally in love with how this Snippet Roll Tutorial turned out! I’ll use this Snippet Roll in the Tea Soiree Junk Journal. Come back soon to see the junk journal when it is finished.
