Hello, everyone. Today I’m sharing a Marie Antoinette TN Junk Journal that I made for a swap in the Friendly Junk Journal People Facebook group. The Marie Antoinette images are from Calico Collage.

Marie Antoinette TN Junk Journal

Here are the guidelines we were to follow for our swap journal. This is for a Travelers Notebook size Junk Journal.
Size Requirement: 8.25 by 4.25 and no bigger than 8.5 by 4.5
  • Minimum Page Content requirements for the journal:
  • 10 pages (folded in half equals 40 pages)
  • 2 pockets
  • 4 tuck spots
  • Four journaling spots/cards included
  • 2 nice pieces of junk (magazine pages, book pages, mop up pages, maps, comic book pages, children’s book pages, etc.)
  • 1 envelope
  • 2 tags
Cover Requirements: Should be decorated and be made of at least cardstock weight paper.

The reason I chose Marie Antoinette because I had a give away on my YouTube for getting to 2500 Subscribers. I let the winner, Jennifer Russell, pick the them and she loves Marie Antoinette. So I thought I would make two journals and use the same images in both.

Here is a video on How to make a Marie Antoinette TN Junk Journal.

For this journal, I made the embellishments or tags first. Since I knew I had a requirement of what needed to be in the journal I set to making those items first. I love adding sewing to my projects since I started out my crafting journey with sewing my own Barbie doll clothes. Adding scraps of fabric is also something I love to do as well.

Once I had the elements made for the  Marie Antoinette TN Junk Journal I started collecting papers for the pages. Selecting papers is a lot of fun! Some of the papers I used: scrapbook paper in 12 x 12 size, coloring book pages, mulberry paper, mop up paper, a page out of a dictionary, notebook paper, copy paper, and a desk calendar.

Time to decorate the Marie Antoinette TN Junk Journal pages. Using the MISTI stamp tool selected a pretty scroll stamp and use Picked Raspberry Distressed Ink. Adding a little pretty touch to the top of each of the pages. Next, used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Black Cherry, and Vintage Pink to add color to the pages in this Marie Antoinette TN Junk Journal.

Using Aleene’s Tacky glue, adhere the elements to the pages. Some of the elements were attached with washi tape. This is one of my favorite techniques to adding a little flip out element to a junk journal.

When the pages were completed I then decided on how to create the cover. Using a nice piece of printed cardstock I made the cover to have a flip out. The outside was covered with pieces of a dictionary page, fabric, paper doily, washi tape, lace, ribbon, the Marie Antoinette image, and sewing. On top of all of this was some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist sprinkled to give little dots.

The Pamphlet stitch is one of my favorite ways to bind a journal and I use Waxed Linen thread and a nice sturdy needle to bind the cover to the pages. The gold ribbon that matched the inside, as well as the cover, was used to tie the journal shut.

In conclusion, was fun making this Marie Antoinette TN Junk Journal for my swap partner and for Jennifer. I hope that each person enjoys the journals I made.
