It is with great pleasure that I share the Mixed Media Mail Art Collaboration Springtime Junk Journal. In January while at Creativation 2018 a few of us met up and discussed having a swap and YouTube Video hop. The final decision was to have a Mixed Media Mail Art Collaboration Springtime Theme. Each artist would make a 4 x 6 postcard with any mixed media they wanted and mail to the other artists.
In this swap, there are three other ladies who participated. Check out the other Mixed Media Mail Art Collaboration Springtime ladies social media.
When I got the postcards from the other ladies I decided that I would make a Junk Journal just for these postcards. Here is the video showing How I made my postcards and then the Mixed Media Mail Art Collaboration Springtime Junk Journal.
Supplies Used for my postcards.
- Four watercolor Postcards measuring 4 x 6 from Canvas Corp Brands
- Tattered Angels High Impact Paint Blue
- Tattered Angels DIY Paint
- Handmade Lace Stencil made with Cricut Explore Air
- Heat Tool
- Gel Press plate 5 x 7
- Brayer – Speedball Deluxe Soft Rubber
Playing with a Gel Press is so much fun. There are so many things that can be done. Lots of layers, single layers, lots of texture or little texture. It is all about whatever you want at the time.
I love how vivid the colors are on the postcards I created for the ladies. Green just spoke spring to me and that is why I used it with the blue.

Having the inspiration in seeing someone else’s work really helps me think of ways to use it in my art projects. Seeing the different designs from each artist gives me ideas, helps me appreciate others art and gives me joy.
Making a mixed media Junk Journal to hold all the postcards was so much fun! I love trying new things and mixed media allows me to play. These are now all in one place and easy to enjoy.
An element I like about this Mixed Media Mail Art Collaboration Springtime Junk Journal is that I was able to put Mixed Media with Vintage themed elements and I think it turned out amazing.
Mixing denim, lace, yarn, and paper with the paints and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, gives this a unique look.
The photos and video don’t do any justice to how beautiful these pages are. The surface is smooth and really feels good in my hands.
Being able to use the extra postcards I made in this journal was also a plus. Really wasn’t sure what I would do with them until I saw I needed a few more pockets.
Many people ask me about where to find cool things for their junk journals. In this case, it was junk mail given to me by a friend, old book pages, and scraps of fabric and lace. And a few digital images from Calico Collage mixed with some awesome mixed media art by, Lena, Bea, and Shel C. And I think it turned out to be a pretty cool junk journal. How about you?
